Finally I decided that I would give tube mods a try after advocating regulated vaping for the majority of my time spent vaping and I still have some questions/concerns despite the countless amount of things I have read. First question, should I be buying new batteries to dedicate to my mechanical device? I have 3 pairs of 25rs that I keep together(labeled AA, BB, CC)and are around 2 to 3 months old(I try to keep fresh sets) as it stands. Second question, how well are tube mods in the pocket? I tend to work outside most of the day so anything I carry lives in my pocket(the tube I bought was 68x22mm if i'm not mistaken). Third and final question, I know this one is entirely subjective, but do you carry extra sets of batteries, or does the single 18650 last throughout the day?

Thanks for your time,
Daniel

1. your batteries are fine.
2. besure to lock your mod in you put it in your pocket. mechs dont have a 10 second shutoff like regulated.
3. 18650 last can last me a work day, but i switch the battery out well before it dies. you dont want to drain your battery done to zero..

remember a mech have zero built in battery safety.

1. The 25r's are my personal favorites and what I use in my Mechs and regulated.

2. I tend to like the mech in the pocket better than my IPV mini 2. I carry it beside my phone on the hip side of my left front pocket and love it. Try picking up a 26650 mod and a pair of skinny jeans. For some weird reason when I rock that combo I get a lot of attention from the ladies. I think they're really starting to dig the vapers.

3. A single 25r can easily last me at least 10 hours subohming (but I'm not constantly vaping). I still carry a spare in my edc bag though.

I carry extras when we go into town, 45 miles away. I sub ohm so they only last a couple hours.
Be careful putting your mod in your pocket with change and keys.
What kinda mod did ya get?

I'll definitely have to give that combination a try! haha

Probably going to keep it in my phone pocket so I should be alright I hope, and I ordered a infinite/sxk stingray x clone. I didn't want to dive head first into the expensive "competition mods" quite yet so figured I would be better off getting something cheaper to see how I liked tube mods.

I prefer Sony VTC4s in my mechs, and since I am mostly a mekkie anyway, and a firm believer in the KISS principle, I just run the VTC4s in everything. I like the thicker safety margin in case of an autofire or stuck button or something. But that's just me. Keep your builds above .5 or so and the 25Rs will handle that all day and never get past warm. I find I can usually get most of a whole day out of a topped off 18650, but I carry a spare anyway. I don't like to flatten the batteries all the way anyway, and once the vape gets anemic I'm looking for a fresh charge. Be careful about the spares, in case you don't know. Shorting one in your pocket with your keyring would not be funny. They make a silicone sock thing that snaps around 1 18650 battery and covers both ends. 99 cents at RTD, and handy; I just ordered-- I forget-- either 2 or 4 more when I ordered some fresh batteries for a mod I'm waiting on Vape Mail to get. If you break up those pairs of batteries, don't put them back in your two-battery mod, assuming you have one and have them married off like you've marked them. I don't have any problems carrying a tube mod in my pocket, but you do want to set the lock ring to prevent the button going down as you move around. It gets hot if you don't...

I was actually considering on buying some vtc4s since I tend to run build around .25 - .3 ohms but was never sure who to trust when buying them. And that's also why I was considering buying new batteries was because I heard you weren't supposed to use batteries together that have been drawn on differently, and I'm all about equipment preservation.

1: I use the same batteries in mechs as on regulated.
Most times in mechs I use kick modules anyway.

2: most tube mechs are bottom fired, and you have to be carefull about locking the mech button if putting in pocket; if i'm using a tank I often just put in upside down in my pocket

3: I've been carrying two mods with toppers in my laptop bag
actually I have a pack of these on a wishlist I been meaning to buy this month.

$3.11 EVVA Protective Silicone Case for 18650 Battery (4-Pack) 4-pack - 4 colors at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
with those I might start carrying an extra battery in my bag.

I gotta give you props for being able to stand it where you're at! I just moved from Coachella a couple months ago after almost 5 years there and man it was awful when the Salton Seas lovely "scent" blew into town! ;)

Toucandan, nice choice, I just ordered the same mod Friday. I've been a regulated user this whole time too, we can swap tips or something hehe.

It's your safety, so you make the call, but .25 is far lower than I'd go on a one battery mech. At full charge that's well over16 amps and more than I personally care to ask from a 20 amp battery. I would definitely recommend VTC4s in that case. You can get real ones at RTDVapor.com and they are in stock as of last week when I bought some. Both Orbtrobic and Illumn were out. If you look in combo deals, they had 4 for $29, and throw in 2 boxes free

And I run my mechs lower than .25, sometimes with a 25R even. OP should just make sure to lock the mod before pocketing. The 20A is a CDR, meaning that the battery was tested drawing 20A continuously for the entire battery drain cycle with 20A load the entire time... and the battery passed this test safely. Vapers don't actually do a continuous drain like this. Many use it as a safety precaution, however, in case the switch gets stuck or something else happens causing the mod to self fire. In that case, you know its going to be OK, even in an extreme malfunction.

As for using its own batteries, you don't really need to. Pairing batteries is best for box mods that take multiple batteries though, especially for a mod that uses the batteries in series. So, if the pair is broken, many will advise to get a new dedicated set just for that multi-battery mod. If its a parallel mod, there is less concern, but still preferable to have paired batteries.

The "scent" in coachella is from Coachella not the Salton sea.
Coachella is 30 miles north.

The sea smells bad only down by the water. And only during an algae bloom once a year.
We live near truck haven.
Only thing we smell is 2 stroke oil from all the atvs

Just ordered some vtc4s from them with some silicone covers, thanks for the link!

Well so much for that. My package arrived from Vapor Range just now and all they sent me was the Stingray X's firing button what the hell? Just emailed em and hopefully this gets fixed ASAP cause I have had nothing but good things to say about VR. Hopefully yours arrives complete Toucandan.
