Wow - I haven't seen this posted yet. The Attorney General is going extreme over in Oregon. Which state will be next? I can't see this happening here in Texas.

Oregon AG moves to block 'E-cigarette' sales

The settlement announced Thursday prohibits the sale of electronic cigarettes in Oregon until they are approved by FDA, or until a court rules the FDA does not have the authority to regulate electronic cigarettes.

Not surprising. Expect other states to follow suit. Too much lost taxes, and the FDA gave them the excuse.

"When products threaten the health and safety of Oregonians, we will take action," said Mary Williams, deputy attorney general. "If companies want to sell electronic cigarettes to consumers, they have to be able to prove they are safe."

So, will they ban real cigarettes too? Double standard.

Let's face it people, this move by the AG in Oregon demonstrates what the e-cig is up against because the Manufacture's did not follow the rules and provide the requiste studies and go though the regulation process so that taxation could be advanced. The e-cig is an unproven device in the eyes of the law no matter how much we thing we know and it is a revenue killer for the goverment, Big Pharm, and Big tobacco---

So no matter how pretextual ths may be---it is reality that we have to face and deal with now.

Well, from what I read in the article it is not stating all sales for e-cigs are going to be banned. Instead, it is two companies.

The Oregon Department of Justice filed two settlements Thursday that prevent two national travel store chains from selling "electronic cigarettes" in Oregon.

The affected travel store chains, Pilot Travel Centers, which has seven centers in Oregon, and TA Operating, which has four centers in Oregon, both sell "NJOY" brand electronic cigarettes.

Does this mean people will still be able to purchase e-cigs and liquid via the mail?

im in oregon and this is crazy!!!!!!!!!! im glad i stocked up!!!! and this has alot to do with s.e. here they didnt comply with the a.g. request for info on there product and the fda was the icing on the cake.

So what's the take on online sales? Do I need to block Oregon from my shipping routes?

The Oregon AG overstepped his authority with this move. The case under consideration was only SE's health claims, yet he immediately used it as an opportunity to wage war on ALL e-cigarette sales. It's utter bull****. I've contacted the AG's office five times over the last few months. They don't care to listen to anyone who supports PVs.

Sun,

I know this has been adressed before (maybe you can point me to the thread) but what is involved in walking these through the "path of righteousness and taxation" to placate the FDA and Government?

i am i dont know if oregon has the right to insect your mail i think on the federal level they can but lifes a gamble enjoy it!!

They cannot. The only way your mail can be opened is if there is a search warrant issued by a Federal Court and the US Postal Inspector files for it. Any other opening of mail during transit is mail tampering and is a felony.

Vape strong, they won't screw with your mail. Hell, you can still get porn delivered to your mailbox. :p

at least as of now in Washington State they are legal...KING5 news contacted the Wa St AG after a story on ecigs and were notified by the AG office that ecigs do not fall under Washington State's smoking laws since they arent ignited/burning materials...lets hope it stays that way here, since i enjoy being able to puff away in my local watering holes
