A vape shop in Eugene, Urban Vapes, went from 142 flavors to two.
Eight customers came in Tuesday morning to Urban Vapes, said general manager Matt Rogers, but none bought any vape juice after seeing the flavors they liked gone from the shelves.
“I don’t think Kate Brown understands what’s going on,” Rogers said, citing data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on what most victims of the lung illness reported using.
Almost 60 percent of the shop’s business consisted of flavored e-juice, Rogers said, with tobacco-flavored juice and vape devices accounting for the rest. The shop will probably have to cut staff and could close, he said.
David Nettles, the owner of another Eugene shop, is almost certain that he’ll have to close the store he opened in 2013.

Pot shops won’t be hit by the ban nearly as hard as nicotine shops, not by a long shot. Only a small percentage of their market is in flavored THC vape juice.

Just 10% of the vaping products Substance sold had banned flavorings in them, according to Kwit, which is in line with the state’s estimate of how much flavored THC vapes make up of Oregon’s total recreational marijuana market.

While Kwit said he supports efforts to ensure product safety, he resents Oregon’s highly regulated marijuana sector getting lumped in with the largely unregulated nicotine vaping market.
“The only two thing those different types of vapes have in common is the word vape,” Kwit said. He said products sold in his store are subject to stringent testing and that suppliers are providing lists of ingredients, so shops and consumers know exactly what’s in the products.
Colleen Valley owns the Apothecaria in Cottage Grove. She said she was selling relatively few flavored marijuana vaping products anyway and that the impact on her business has been less than she anticipated.

One section is a quote by someone else blaming the FDA for lax oversight causing a lack of research. To disagree with this person that is not exactly the causality. Lack of oversight doesn’t cause lack of research. Lack of groups doing research does.
Lack of research happened because research was demonstrably blocked by BT. Groups that posted here attempted to raise funds years ago to do ecig research. The funds were accumulated, the spaces and equipment were rented, the researchers were arranged, and after the money was spent the researchers were hired away by BT and it was all left to rot. Iirc this happened twice.

@bombastinator, it's also the fact that the chemical industry (pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and biotech) and tobacco industry are codependent.

Chemical companies make money off everyone and BT is one of their consumers. Then BT create more consumers for the chemical companies.
A number of patients with Toxic Inhalational Lung Trauma (TILT) reported they used neither nicotine nor THC vaping products.
Therefore, the possibility that traditional THC combustion products play a role in this outbreak cannot be excluded.
This is concerning given that 84% of Oregon's marijuana output is unregulated, untested, and shipped across the country to at least 37 additional states.
