I would definitely get an e-cig as a birthday gift, especially if it's someone who has already tried some form of vaping, because that shows that they are at least somewhat interested in using vaping to quit smoking. In fact I plan to buy my grandmother a Halo G6 starter kit (or something similar) for her birthday next month :thumb:

Great idea but would go with the something similar if you think she will ever use tanks with them. They worked great with the carts but not their tanks, had to keep pulling center post up everytime I changed tanks or charged it, returned and 2nd set did the same so sent back and got the regular Tritons and they work like a champ. Mine were the auto batts.

We are talking about gifting starter sets to people... now with the gift, are you going to give juice with that? How are you going to decide what flavor and nic level? Are you going to help them find a juice they like if they don't like the original one?

I dont think the ego twist starter kit would be thst hard to explain. I mean if you are going to give a starter kit as a gift to someone, that person would have shown a little bit of interest and asked questions. My mom has been asking questions about my stuff so ive giving her a starter kit with and ego twist

Had a really hard time explaining how to load a clearomizer, the different types of juices and other stuff that almost had me go back to analogs. I have lost some because, they just could not get it together.

Most cig-a-like batteries just will not handle a heavy smoker and that in itself almost did me in. One friend spilled his juice, another got a bad leaker and still another got dry hits. If the person is frustrated, it's back to analogs. The person really has to want it.

I got my wife a bottom coil Kanger Esmart setup for mother's day. That is now my go to suggestion for anyone asking about a first kit. It is beyond easy to use. It is regulated at 3.4 volts, so the performance is consistent. It is a very slim and short package compared to an ego and it performs very well. I tried it and found it to be a good but slightly airy hit and there has been no gurgling or leaking.

With the 1.2ml tank on the battery the Esmart is shorter than my 1000mah Evod battery. Plus, the whole thing is barely larger in diameter than my G6. With replaceable heads the maintenance is almost a no brainer.

The only thing that stopped me from going back was the Evod starter kit I bought from Origin Vape. Even with the SM30 topper, it was miles and miles from the G6 I had. I have moved on to other toppers, but that original SM30 got me over the hump. It also helped convince my wife to stick in there when she hit the wall with her G6. That SM30 topper convinced her that it could work for her. She wanted something smaller and closer to the G6 in size. So, we went a different route for her. That SM30 on my Evod at night pulled her through though.

I would love to see the starter kits offered with an Evod 2. However, if somebody is moving up and doesn't mind the size I recommend the Evod battery with the Mini Protank 3. That tank is great. The base has a cupped design that keeps the juice on the head even when it is nearly empty. It tastes cleaner, and the drip tip never gives of that surgical instrument taste that some stainless ones will. The Pro Tank Mini 3 is the best low capacity Kanger I have tried, hands down.

Then I have my hubby. Started him on cigalikes and he filled the carts on the batt. Never cleans anything and so on and so forth. The batts I gave him have taken great abuse. Dropped here and there, thrown in dirt piles, They are all dinged up and look like they have been around forever and a day. Then he started saying not enough batt life after the one he took up the tower gave out and was almost 4 hrs before he was on the ground to get another. He had one of the ground crew send one up :) He also kept losing the end caps from the carts. I know he is rather an extreme situation but it shows the need for something a little heftier for just about all of them. I ended up getting him evod tanks and a couple 2200 mah batts. He handles them well except he leaves the tank base on the batt when he fills the tank.

I really think unless the person is a light smoker or dead set against something that doesn't look like a real cig, the evod or comparable ego kit is the way to go and will be grown out of less quickly or not at all and the little evod tanks are my favorite for trouble free use. I have the regular ones and a glass version of the same tank. The cost of these kits are the same or less than the cigalike depending on where you get them

Battery, Tank and Charger Custom Starter Kit! | Origin Vape Black Evod with Black Evod tank and charger... under $11 and you are allowed to get 2 kits. Then all you need is da jooose There are several other color choices too.

Actually, since you are new to rebuildables, I think it's a lot better to start with them on the Vamo. I'm new too, and I am really enjoying using them on my MVP. I'm a lot more comfortable with using them that way. The guys who do the videos have probably been rebuilding for a long time, and they know what they are doing. As we get more experience, we will be more comfortable with mechs!

I do have a Nemesis coming from Origin though, and it should be here today, but I'm not sure I'll dare use it without a fuse or a kick. It should be here today!

I agree with that. Egos are easy, and they work. I would only buy a kit that uses a standard ego and 510 connection though, so if they like it, they would be able to use any tank without having an adapter.

Yea. I started with a vision spinner and a kanger evod. The vv on the batt was awesome. And the botton coil tank tasted way better than the top coils and lasted way longer. Then got an aspire bdc and it fit on the spinner too. Think I need to give my mom one of them

I agree Joan. After numerous cig-a-like kits, I finally got an ego knock off kit. Even though the batteries were bad, and the clearos were terrible, at least they had standard connections so I could try new things with both the tanks and clearos easily. The batteries didn't last long at all, and neither did the clearos, but I was so glad when I found ECF the same day as I got them, and found out that I had standard connections, and could get any ego type batteries and any topper I wanted, and they would all be compatible. The very first week, I bought a Spinner and a Protank 3, and I have never looked back!

Has she started using it? I have gone through a lot of different things, the esmart isn't one of them, because of giving them to others and either the ego or the evod is still my choice for a starter. I prefer the ego because the button sticks out but it seems many either prefer the one that is flush or they don't care one way or the other.

I think the esmart is an 808 thread and the batt is 320 or 380 mah??? Don't feel like lookin it up this morning yet.. but basically a cigalike with a tank. I will look them up after more coffee and change this if I find I am wrong. I would rather give someone something with more batt life. I am a batt killer and my little cigalikes would be dead before the other was charged. I go through 3 or 4 900 mah batts a day here. With the constant voltage, the esmart would drain quicker than the unregulated too. I guess you just have to think about the person receiving this and think of their needs to decide which would be best.

The Esmart comes in 808d or 510. I got her the 510 so that she could have a greater range of flexibility. The "new" esmart kits are basically a 320mah mini Evod regulated at 3.4 volts. The new bottom coil ones come with 1.8 ohm heads and you can get replacements in 1.8 or 2.2 ohm. I would recommend the 1.8 ohm. It keeps the wattage around 6.4 and the 2.2 ohm head drops it below 6. I don't think many flavors are really going to shine below 6 watts.

Joan, you are a vape beast. I can go two 12 hour shifts on my 1000mah Evod and not run out of power. My wife vapes even less than me. She can make a G6 last four days. For her the battery life is not an issue. Even at 1.8 ohms she should get two or more days out of her Esmart.
