Love me some corned beef and cabbage, but I don't like it all boiled together.

I agree....I want my cabbage to taste like cabbage not watered down corned beef (that's what I get out of it). My Parents did that around new years.....I begged my dad to NEVER do that again....blah. And my brother turned me on to adding a touch of mustard to my corned beef...not while cooking, but right on the plate....nom nom nom...I'm gettin a cravin now

I add carrots and celery to my Corned beef and cabbage! I just adore it! I have never had soda bread..I will have to try it.

Might be hard to find soda bread in Florida. My sis complains she can't find it in TX. It's a crumbly bread, and it has raisins in it. Often comes with some powdered sugar over the top, and genuine soda bread also has caraway seeds in it. In NY you can find several variations especially this time of year. Then it's all about fresh bakery rye bread and corned beef sandwiches!
