Stand your Ultrafires up next to the blue ones that came with the kit. If the Ultrafires are taller (all it takes is an mm or two) they won't work. Long term, they can damage the v8.

The Ultrafires are a tad taller than the blue ones. I guess this means that I have to give up using the Ultrafires and get myself another set of batteries. Thanks Poeia!

I just read this thread, all the way through, and all the reviews on the Ovale V8 that I could find. Although I think it's ONE of the coolist looking box mods out there. I'm going for the Varicool by smoktek:

SmokTek "SmokBox VariCool" - Custom Variable Volt Box Mod - Efficient switching regulator! adjustable 3,4,5,6.5 volt's & everything between.

Maybe someday, Rob at Smoktek, will get his hands on an old Ovale V6 mold and put his works in them. For now, I don't want to be concerned with battery sizes, battery doors, haunted read outs, touchy buttons, etc. I just want to vape.

Huge off topic, but:
If you want good battery boxes look here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...oltage-evercool-quality-look-great-price.html
I have 4. battery boxes at this moment (2. of them built by myself) and all models with switching regulation are one of the best i tried. You also need voltage display, without it you will never know what is the best voltage for different types of cartos/attys and different e-liquids.
V8 does not have switching psu, it has pulse, similar to akston hughes for example and this is best power supply for vaping. And it is cheaper and look nicer than any hand made battery box.

Penguinrudder: if ultrafire battery works in V8 use them and don't worry. Because they are little taller only possible problem is that you can brake battery holder, but i don't think that 1mm can make difference.

Zogu, very interesting. Is the Varicool SmokBox from SmokTek also pulse?
I would like to see pictures of what you have made :)

p.s. I just got a Krimson Kustom a few days ago. So far the batteries (Panasonic) have not needed charging yet!

Guys, I got the batteries I ordered. The good thing is that they are 1200mAh, so they should last longer. The bad thing is that they were flat tops, not button tops. They did not work. .......

until....

Out came the little magnets I got from Radio shack. Then they worked fine :)
I'll let you know if the batteries hold a charge longer than the AWs and the ICRs with the button tops.

Be very careful. I read somewhere (on the forum or on a vendor's website) that if the magnet slips between the two batteries it makes some sort of connection and can short or start a fire or something.

When you are charging batteries the charger sits still. In a PV they can get jostled around much more easily.

This might seem like a really dumb/obvious question...but does the voltage go up in increments, or is it just 3,5,6?

I've only seen pics with 5 & 6 on the readout, and since it's rather inexpensive, I just wanna check... *blush*

ETA: okay, I just looked at it on discountvapers & it says 'incremental VV' in the title. *facepalm*

*slinks back to the corner with her laptop...and credit card...*

Good point, Po. They seem pretty tight, but I'll check -- if there is a possibility the magnet can slip I won't use them. Thank you.

I'm capable of overlooking a 30ml bottle of e-liquid sitting right in front of me. Compared to that, missing a dozen letters on a whole internet page is nothing.
