Does anyone know where to get a reasonably priced rubberized kit? Ive been eyeballing this and have the money, but now I cant seem to find them anywhere :(

Ditto on Discount Vapers. Send Eric an email at eric@gormly.com and ask him if he will sell you a rubberized v8 -- he stopped selling Ovale V8s on his site because of too many returns, but said that he will sell them on a no-returns basis.

I'm moving away from using tubes entirely because they are uncomfortable for me. One of the things I loved about the V8 was the very comfortable shape. I seriously considered getting a VV Gripper but ended up buying basic box mods and am enjoying them a lot. (If I could just learn to build them myself I'd be in clover.)
Start with building the basic DIY box mod kit at Madvapes (8.99) it's super easy!

Edit: Sorry! Didn't see that someone already mentioned this idea!
I had never soldered before this kit, and I left out the bells and whistles, such as the light, etc. Just the connector, contacts and switch. You can buy extra parts there to so if you mess up it can all be fixed.
Good luck!

Small report after 6 V8 which I bought for me and my friends. 5 pieces are with new style connector and one is with old style connector. Electronics in all of them is a same. One piece has different battery connectors and it is much easier to put batteries, there is no need for any tools.
3 Pieces had failure until now what is very bad. On one piece battery connector unsolder-ed, on other one 510 connector unglued and after that + pol wire brake and on third one there was shortcut in 510 connector.
All three pieces are repaired very easy, but still they could make it better.
About connector failure, connector body is very bad builded with a lot of very sharp edges and this sharp edges cut silicon insulation between + pol and connector body. I replaced insulation (used one from old cartomizer) and sanded all sharp edges on connector body, i hope it will work longer now.

Interesting report, thanks. Where did you buy them?

I'm sure your batteries are fine! The problem arises when people repeatedly leave their batteries in the charger for days. But I did that years ago, when I started vaping, when all the battery fear hadn't reached the Vapers yet. I often forgot my batteries in the charger. I never had any problems...

yeah, but it only takes "once". :)

I dont wish to have battery worries, so I invested in high end charger and good AW batts.

I don't see the point in skimping on items that get so much use. We are gonna use this stuff every single day. For months and months. JMHO.

Having fancy equip and not good batts and chargers to me it's like spending gobs of money waxing and washing a car to make it look pretty and then skimping on good oil and oil changes......when the latter is what makes the car go. :)

There IS a possibility that my AW IMR are not legit. I buy them from RTD Vapors. The 14500 AW IMRs I get from there don't have a good battery charge life either.

Sandy, if you get batteries from RTD, they are totally legit AW's. Of that I can assure you.

I dunno what kind of charger you are using. That also makes a difference.

Just saw your post, sorry for delay, all are bought from Alibaba, but as far as i know there is only one manufacturer for Ovale V8 and V6. Also it is very interesting that all my devices did not have failure and my friends just started to vape, maybe they tighten to much Cartomizers, or it is just accident.
I ordered one few days ago from smoktek and i will report here is any difference, but don't expect it soon because post is very slow from USA to my country (2-3 weeks).

I got two from SmokTek - a blue matte finish in a kit and a white shiny gloss one. Both of them are working just fine but it is of note that despite getting two of them from the same place... each has a different 510 connector. The matte blue has what I would call the "sturdy", really heavy duty 510. It's the large type connector that is "flush" with the top of the V8. The shiny white has a standard 510 connector - recessed down into the body of the V8.

The recessed connector on the white one is an accident waiting to happen. The body of the V8 is very poorly finished in that recessed connector area. There are two big gaps (holes) where the front and back seams meet together in that recessed 510 area. All it's going to take is one accident for liquid to easily get into the body of the V8 because of those gap-holes in the recessed area on the white one.

I'm just pointing out - unfortunately - that even buying two V8's from the same vendor is no guarantee you are going to get two V8's with the same type of 510 connector. And I get the idea that, in theory, these were all made by the same manufacturer. So why are there two different versions out there, being shipped to the same resellers, with very different 510 connectors?

If I had known, I would have never got the recessed connector version. But I wanted a different color than another matte blue. Then that whole ...-u-me thing happened: Sure didn't expect to get a different color, from the same place, and have it arrive with a different 510 connector.

On the contrary, both connector failure I had with "heavy duty" version. With recessed (standard) version I did not have any problem till now.

I'm just concerned that on the white one I got, with the recessed connector, it is going to be so easy for liquid to get into the body of the V8 what with the crappy fit/finish of the front and back of the V8 body at that point. I keep looking at it and I can't tell if those gaps are actually the way the thing was molded, or if pieces of the case are broken off in that recessed area. (Sorry - don't have time to do photos right now.)

With either the blue or white one I have the connectors are solidly in place. But I'm already looking at opening up the one with the recessed connector to see what I can do to plug those open holes in the case. That will probably be the time to do photos - both of what I see as the case problem and of the innards of one of these things. We have seen lotto photos of the cases but I don't think anyone has posted a shot of what the insides of a V8 looks like.

BTW: Matte finish versus shiny? Get the matte version if you can. The matte blue is really nice. If you are into mid century design the matte blue will knock your socks off. That color, combined with all the non-linear sweeps and curves, just screams 1950's. I love it! But the white in the gloss finish? It just looks cheap by comparison. Reminds me of a white kitchen timer or something.

You can get an adapter that doesn't have a hole at the bottom which will eliminate one way that the juice can get in.

Here's the picture from Health Cabin (bottom right.) I know Good Prophets carries them as well as some other domestic vendors.
