DealExtreme? Specializing in anything? Here, perhaps you need one of these: Novelty Dippy Drinking Bird - Free Shipping - DealExtreme lol Dangerous place - you can get lost wandering all over that site.
just as good as the ones I get from USA vendors.

Sorry I wasn't clear, Rick. I meant I was bookmarking the RTD Vapors site YoureFired posted! The batteries I got are 16340 3.7volt 700mAh IMR...made for the e-cigs. They should be fine. Next month I'll stock up a bit at RTD. Also glad AVT put their V8s back for sale. Good deal...but people should be sure to contact them about the availability of the bonus unit. If they are even continuing to do that.

They have protection, but still protection electronics can die, my friend bought protected Trustfire 14500 from ebay and protection had broke (I think during the first charge), battery almost fired up, he showed me what remained from it.
Conclusion: you can safely use any batteries which can fit in V8 ;)
Yeah, I had a "protected" Trustfire 14500 battery blow up in my BB mod. Pic below (sorry about the poor quality):

It hasn't been said that I recall.

Nope. It was tpoulon that bought from AVT back on page 104 - didn't say. Fouthrok will be crash test dummy before me. I'm away from home base so looks like I won't get to it until the first of next week. I'm sure we will be hearing as soon as hers arrives.

The Ovale V8 kit and bonus V8 arrived today!

Okay...haven't been able to check them out completely yet...charging the batteries now. But what I CAN report is that the "bonus" unit I got was the rubberized finish. AND it has the ohm checker! Also that one poster a few pages is right...it does show the wattage when you press the power button. It's not VW...but it does show the wattage. Haven't figured out how to tell the battery level yet. Will report on that a bit later this evening. The ribbon thing with the batteries works like a charm. Use the ribbons! They help! And putting the batteries in wasn't a problem. The door on the rubberized bonus unit does seem pretty easy to open.

The shiny black one in the kit doesn't appear to have the ohm checker, and yes, it does default to 5 volts. It seems to work fine, however. Door does seem a bit harder to get off, but is easy to put on. I didn't really get to "test" it that much though. I will be checking both V8s out later this afternoon and give 'em a workout then report back!

The button push indication is the battery Voltage. It doesn't change as one changes the Voltage settings with the small buttons, which if Wattage, it would. As well, while there is Voltage indication with no carto/atty attached, there would be none for Wattage. With two batteries fully charged, it starts out in the 8 Volt range.

It remains a great buy!

Ah yes...you are right! DOH!! Thanks Cool_Breeze!

It's not critical for me to know the wattage, since I know how to calculate it...and have a good online calculator for it, too http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohmslawcalculators.asp#power
Of course...I'm not sure why the number "7.9" comes up when I push that power button. It varies a bit when I change voltages, too But could be co-incidence. But...the ohms checker DOES work as expected.

The way everyone was talking (including the vendor) I thought I was going to have to use the 510/ego adapter to use my carto tanks. I don't. There is a nice solid metal platform with air slots for the 510 connection. No adapter needed for my tanks. I guess people were meaning the clearomizer type cartomizers rather that true tanks?

The original unit I got in the kit I think I'll keep as back up...in reserve. I'll get a rubberized one for hubby from DV next month so he can have a ohms checker. Still...this was a GREAT deal...I'm very happy!

Oh..okay I re-read your post Cool_Breeze. I get it now about the voltage. Guess I'm just excited and not paying good enough attention!

I bet Jimmy is scratching his head over how there's this big rush on the V8s when before they were such "slow movers".

I really love both of mine. Even though the shiny one lacks some features, it still vapes great. Pics tomorrow.

Anyone give me an idea how many hours a chain vaper averaging approx. 5.8 to 6 watts on a single coil should expect the two 800 mAh batteries to last?

Dunno in context of watts but I get 6-8 hours with my SR 2 ohm devices at 3.6 volts on the old model.

Haven't seen mine yet - away from home and won't be back until this weekend.

Oh! will be interesting to see how the two models compare when you put your voltage meter thingee on both. (He's only vaping a SR device at 3.6 volts...?) The display isn't calibrated on the old version so what it reads in volts isn't necessarily what you are getting.
