over six months without a cigarette

I was talking to a friend the other day and was asked did I still crave cigarettes. I realized, that while I still found the smell of someone smoking (not the smell of old ashtraays), pulling out my e-cig and taking a hit was working quite well.

I haven't spent a huge amount of time on this forum but have come here occasionally. I've found a comfortable combination of things for me, although they are apparently different than most other people's.

I started with smoke tip menthol tobacco, but realized early on that I needed to switch to using a cartomizer and e-juice. Much to my surprise, however, I am still using (filling) the cartomizers from my original purchase, although I have puchased some from other sources just to have a different color for different flavors. I've really been astonished how long a cartomizer can last. I've also discovered a nut pick is the perfect tool for removing caps for refilling and cleaning the excess liquid when wrapped in a paper towl. Despite other people's experience, I find myself happy staying with the 808's. I found a very reasonable source (My vapor store). I discovered that there batteries are very reasonably priced. They also have a great charger. It charges two batteries at a time and keeps working even if it isn't plugged in. I also discovered that the colors (black, silver and navy) are slightly lighter and slimmer than the white ones (who knows why). They feel very much like holding my old 120mm cigs.

I've tried several e juices with varying success. I tried some from Mt Baker, but found the flavors minimal except for the menthol which was too harsh. I hadn't learned at that point to only start with small bottles, but found that when I mixed half menthol and half another flavor (chocolate, sweet cream and vanilla), the mixture was quite pleasant. Since then I have been experimenting with other flavors from other companies. My non-totacco choices include peach, chocolate, strawberry and dr pepper (EC blens and viking
vapor). I still haven't found the absolutely perfect menthol tobacco (that's what I smoked), but am reasonabley happy with viking vapors menthol tobacco although the search for the perfect one goes on. I've also been gradually cutting down on the nicotine content, and the next batch will be 4 mg.

My usual habit is to start each day with four charged batteries. Two are always menthol and the other two may be menthol or may be one of my other flavors.

I'm just sharing my experience, not trying to recommend it to anyone else. I realize that between the battery and ejuice I choose, it sounds like I'm pretty close to still keeping my cigarette habit and maybe I am, but I still feel good about being tobacco free and on my way to being nicotine free. For someone who smoked for close to 50 years, maybe thats enough.

Hey, I say whatever works for you is the way to do it. In fact I'm pleased to hear of someone who managed to stop smoking by using simple equipment. I was also a menthol smoker and the best flavour so far has been a premixed menthol tobacco flavour I got for free from China with another order. So when that's gone I'm in trouble! But there are plenty of good fruit flavours now that my taste is working again.

Well, it sounds like you are reasonably happy in your experience with your PV of choice and hopefully you'll find a flavor that gives you that ahhhhhh moment. Good for you for being almost nicotine free! I wish you all the best in finding yourself nicotine free and with finding a flavor that is "it" for you. :)
