Ok so long story short I was switching out atties (same resistance) and next thing i know my pinkie gets burned and seeing the button got stuck!? Things got wayyyy tooo hottt!!!So I'm unscrewing the bottom end and running downstairs to the garage thinking this battery is going to explode, threw the battery in a bucket with water. Not thinking Im going to touch that again.. Got me a little scared of vaping at the moment.. Any reason why this happened? its only a week old battery. it was an AW IMR 18490. $10 down the drain LITERALLY.

THANKS FOR ANY INPUT!

Spring looks fine tested with my other battery and different atty worked fine. Couldve been the battery??

Not the battery but your atomizer shorted out (hence why it works now that you replaced it). On atomizers there is a thin, pliable rubber oring/grommet that insulates the center post of your atomizer from the body of the atomizer. If the atomizer is overtightened (be careful to just snug atomizers up, they don't need to be overly tight), defective or the grommet has worn out over time, it can compress down too far allowing the center pin of the atomizer to move too far up into the atomizer where it makes contact with the body of the atomizer causing a short.

Once it shorts, large amounts of current are released and as this electricity makes it way back to the negative end of the battery it can cause hot spots where the electricity flows from the body to the switch. Replace atomizer and vape on. If there are any black spots on your switch or the inside of the bottom cap, you can remove with some fine steel wool.
