I'm sure the answer is located somewhere in these forums. I've searched, though, and cannot find it.

I got a P10 on Tuesday. I had ICR10440 batteries which I thought would fit, but they're too short. So I ordered new batteries from Super T and I got these today (IMR10440).

Why are they too short??? Not only does it not fire, the battery rattles around inside. There's a black ring in the base, so what am I missing here?

I bought it new on Monday from a reputable retail vendor I've used for a long time. The vendor just got them in the mail that day from Super T, so I'm assuming it is the new kind. I also bought a P18 which seems to work fine.

The ones had originally say they're protected 10440s, so I'm at a loss.

EDIT: After looking on the Super T site and reading the description of the button, I'm going to spend another $10 for a new button.

This seems strange because if he got them in the mail from David that day then they would 100percent have the new brass switch since David does not make the old switch anymore. Maybe you should talk to that guy about it.

edit Is your switch brass? not to say all of the brass ones are new one but if it is stainless then it is for sure the old style.

Yes, it's brass. I'm assuming based on my reading that these are pre-February units, but I did see the actual USPS priority mail box. I know the guy is legit.

FWIW, a friend gave me a spacer so at least I got to try it out. The performance is even better than my P18 (of course, not for battery life).
Strange oh well at least the upgrade is cheap and does not take 6 weeks. Glad you got to try it out I really love mine, it is so perty

That is curious about the switch. All P10's sold from February forward should be set up for IMR batteries. Shoot me a pm and i'll get it taken care of for you.

Follow-up in case anyone else has the same issue.

It turns out I had a new unit and didn't need the old switch. I guess I somehow put the o-ring in the switch section (?). It goes under the battery's negative end in the battery tube, and the battery sits on top. Thanks, David for all the help.

This little guy cranks out the vapor with a LR 510 and the IMR 10440!

Interesting. I just got my P10 today and already had 3 new UltraFire 10440's that are definitely longer than the IMR that I got from Super T with my P10 order. The UltraFire batteries do not fit. Plus the ultrafires are really poorly build (never noticed this before) as they are not cylindrical and the protection circuits are slightly off center, etc.

They'll work in another mod that doesn't have such tight tolerances as the Precise. But does mean I need to order more IMR batteries.

I don't know about the UltraFire batteries, but on the SuperT site there are some TrustFires which say "Note: This battery will not fit Precise 10440 units manufactured after February, 2011."

Don't know if that helps or not, but I can tell you there's a vast difference between my regular 10440s and the IMRs. The IMRs with a LR atty make it seem like a 5v device.

Correct, the P10 was redesigned in Febuary to not accept Trustfire/ultrafire protected batteries due to their poor quality control.

The Precise now only accepts IMR 10440 and AW 10440 batteries. A drop in switch is also available for units built before Feb. 2011 that allows them to run the IMR/AW 10440.

of course probably even 2 hours.

Could someone explain me the difference between AW and IMR bats? Why do the IMR perform better?

My testing revealed no difference between the AW 10440 and the IMR 10440 in so far as atomizer heating element temperature reached. My testing involved inserting a temperature probe inside the atomizer and doing 5 and ten second activations, both produced equal temperature readings. I did not test though, to see if one battery will last longer than the other.

Thanks a lot for the update I always wondered if there is a difference between the two. Thanks for the info.
