Hello all! This post is going to be pretty long, so sorry. TLDR!
A little history - been smoking for 16 years. In college I was up to 2 PAD. Tried quitting with all the usuals, even medication, no avail. I tried cigars and pipes to get my fix, (since I wasn't inhaling it was "better), and just could not stop. I tried doing races like triathlons (no full length yet), marathons, and am an avid mountaineer and climber... Even when we summit something I always hauled a cigar for base camp. After a bike/run training block, I sat down to smoke and cough my lungs out.
I was intrigued by ecigs, and did some research, found this forum, and really wanted to try it. But it kept getting pushed off... Until I found out my dad needed surgery for an ICD (combo pacemaker/defibrillator). I found out last Friday and for some reason it put the fear in me. I ordered a kit from a supplier recommended on this site (Cignot.com) at 1:48 on Friday afternoon. I got a shipping confirmation 13 minutes later. The next Monday I had my kit right before I left for the hospital. My first experience vaping was puffing along in the car. I actually had a pack of analogs with me, but didn't light up. During the whole road trip, during my stay at the hospital with dad, even after several hours of driving and a 36 hour stay awake marathon, the analogs stayed sealed, then trashed. And no, I didn't vape in the hospital. I still went outside
While it hasn't been quite a week yet, I have gone 5 days without smoking after not missing a day in 16 years. And everytime I tried to stop I couldn't even go one day. And it has been kind of fun - I live in a small town and everyone knows everyone and everyone's habits. Kind of nice to go to the store or gas station and stop the clerk from grabbing me my regular pack of smokes.
So thanks to all on the forum for all the info. I could search for any question I had and find the answer. And my gf says thanks too. I am no longer a "stinky ........"
