Good one here. Really gets to the heart of the matter. An excerpt:

"In this case, moralizing e-cig opponents have joined with “Big tobacco” and government tax offices to stymie the growth of e-cigs in the market. Each group has a distinct interest in regulation. Many health advocates seek to further stigmatize the perceived act of smoking, and want to treat e-cigarettes like traditional, combustible cigarettes to achieve this goal.Major cigarette companies seek to make moving to alternative products more difficult, further entrenching their current, dominant position. Government officials, faced with falling cigarette-tax revenues, seek to prevent further drops by either taxing e-cigarette products or shoring up dwindling traditional cigarette sales."

Unholy trinity BP, BT, BG joined hands to keep the tobacco gravy train rolling at the expense of smokers' lives
You mean the unholy quaternity.
You left out the demonizers (ANTZ) from Anti-Tobacco.

What shall we call them...
--Big Puritan?
--Big Shills?
--Big .......s?

I tried to post this as a comment but am hopeless with social media stuff and it would not allow me to post as a guest.

Thanks for your well informed view on vaping. With all that is known about cigarettes and this alternative to them the lessor of two evils becomes less like most political elections where both are almost equally as bad as the other and more like the choice between known to kill six million folks a year and not known to have killed a single person, even the FDA approved Chantix has been linked to hundreds of suicides yet that remains a viable alternative while vaping is demonized.

My Wife and I switched to vaping over 3 years ago along with many family members and friends. This does work and has completely replaced smoking for most of us. The battle against vaping is about dollars and nothing more, those dollars are being protected at the risk of millions of lives that are lost each year. Those who are involved in demonizing vaping for their own agendas should look into their hearts if they have one and consider they are placing themselves into the company responsible for the worst atrocities in history.

Big Junk Science. It's an industry now, just like any other. Take something that attracts humans - science, reason, justice and corrupt those concepts beyond recognition with enough buzz words to keep the not-to-bright happy that they "understand" it and even parrot the words to make them look smart. See - new age pyramids, crystals, magnets, rainbows, butterflies and the "science" which pulls it all together.

If they really cared so much about the tax revenue, they'd roll back the smoking bans and halt the demonization of smokers. The fact that they never do these things proves that they care only about licking the boots of the ACS-ALA-AHA-TFK-RWJF gang. Likewise for the major cigarette companies!

That is quite true but if they rolled back on the attack of smokers that would be an admission of exaggerating the harm in order to levy enormous taxes designed to discourage smoking. They would have to also roll back those taxes, hmmm, what are the odds on that happening?

Uh... that's pretty much what Carol was saying :)

More importantly, to roll back antismoker agitprop they'd essentially have to admit to manufacturing the scam of the century, thus endangering all tobacco related income from taxes & MSA, possibly facing prosecution for fraud and crimes against humanity.

You can't so easily backtrack on a lie of such monumental proportion...

Only honest and rational people 'backtrack' when they realize they've made a mistake. Liars just change lies or continue to back up the ones they're telling and attack anyone who tries to tell the truth. If they're in gov't or closely and well connected, they rarely ever have to 'face the music'.
