Just curious to know if anyone has made a mod using this type of battery holder. Also any warnings and or pitfalls of using this type of holder.

I happen to have 4 aluminum tubes that are exactly 42mm ID.X 90mm long inside. They only have 1 end cap so I would need to find a way to cap off one end. An 1 1/2" PVC cap fits perfectly on the outside of the tube but looks kinda ugly. An 1 1/2 copper end cap is too small to fit on the tube.

Just thought I'd update this post in case anyone cares. I bought two of these battery holders off Ebay for about $12 total. I modified the connectors on one with .01 brass sheet. I think it came out fairly good. DSCF0054.jpg

OK, here's a few pics.

Earlier in this thread I posted a pic of the modified battery holder. I decided that the bottom brass connectors were too thin to hold the batteries tight so I rebuilt them with thicker brass.

The switch is made from a telescoping antenna, some brass strip, 1/4" CPVC feed tubing and motherboard standoffs.

Oh yeah, the tube came from some speakers I got with a "multimedia computer" that never really worked very well. There were two caps on those but I lost one somehow. The one cap I have was used for the top. The speakers had a wide base that had an outer ring. I cut the outer ring off and sanded it smooth.
