Good morning y'all, happy Friday! :D:banana::D
I sure hope we don't get any tornadoes around here today. It's bad enough that everyone's beating the talk about that possibility to death! Not that I don't want people to be prepared and safe, but sheesh! It's not like folks around here don't know that we could get this kinda weather this time of year anyway!

Sorry for the rant, I'm just one of those people who can remember things longer than 15 minutes.

I understand the TV and radio news sources repeating the info often... They can't tell when people will be watching or not and when the weather may be serious... the repetition helps keep everyone aware. I don't like how they will often hype it up often making it more serious than it may actually appear just so they can boost their ratings.

What is concerning me is number of untrained people going out to watch the storms in order to catch a glimpse of something exciting. There have actually been traffic jams worth of non weather related folks which only puts the actual spotters/chasers that are out there trying to report on where the danger is ... it basically ends up blocking the spotter/chasers possible directions to exit danger.

Another side effect has been the spotter/chasers have now been targeted by the media saying their are making things more unsafe than the help they provide because of the number of them out there... I think the truth is that the weather looky loo's are being mistaken for spotters which ends up resulting in the spotters getting bad press claiming they are the causes of the traffic jams and such. Since most/many of the spotters/chasers now video their work, this can help prove that they are not the cause... but the press seldom listens to the whole story if it's not in their interest when it comes to their ratings.

Ok... probably nothing significant is going to happen for a couple of hours weather wise ... SE Colorado and possibly SW Kansas will likely see something first but the real action is expected along the New Mexico / Texas boarder in the panhandle... mostly on the Texas side of things. This according to what the models are indicating at this time...

The following is one of those models... The HRRR Significant Tornado Parameter ( STP ) and this one is for around 9pm CDT when it is expected to be at it's peak. So in a couple of hours, things will likely start happening building up to this model ( or close to it ) and then tapering off into the dark hours...

You can think of this as similar to radar only it is graphing the chances of possibility instead of actual radar data. The more intense colors of course indicating a higher likelihood of seeing tornadic activity.

Valid points there RDS. I guess I need to try N be a bit more patient when it comes to this kind of stuff. I know it's not a laughing matter. I also probably listen to the radio more than most people these days.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::p

I use my mute for those times I don't need to hear it again... :D

Of course, since I geek out on the stuff anyway... I don't mind hearing it over and over either... :)
