Ok... the final sauce report...

I did over do the onion powder a bit... I'm certainly thinking orange juice next time... from looking at Moonie's pic, I should have added mustard also. I really liked having the fake balsamic vinegar in it ( despite it being just caramelized only and not really a balsamic one ). Cooking it down would have also helped dissolve the onion and garlic powders much better allowing them to blend more. I also enjoyed the chili powder in it, again I over did that a little but that isn't a problem for me, but would be for others.

Overall.. it was a nice change despite the sauce not being great ( just ok )...

yep, Yellow mustard sure does do a lot for some BBQ sauces, I usually opt for fresh onion/garlic in most my recipes, even those that call for the powder, but it can become texture issue, chop 'em small & cook 'em down

Fresh is always better... texture wouldn't be an issue if you also strain it once it's cooked down

I did think about that... only problem, I was hungry already :D

I would also sub out the cantaloupe... I love the smell, but can't stand the taste which really really sucks cause they smell wonderful to me.
i'll eat it, but not my first choice for the "melon" type fruits
