Part time vaper for one year here...

What's up guys? New member here, but not new to vaping..

I've been vaping for quite a while now, bought my first eGo (it's a Happy eGo if I'm not mistaken) about a year ago and stocked up on Dekang juice. Unfortunately they never really quite replaced analogs for me -- something just didn't feel right, either it wasn't producing enough "smoke" or whatever. Up until now it was just something I did to pass the time (and it came in handy during winter), but whenever I'd get cravings I'd reach for my pack of smokes and went outside. After a year my atomizer is starting to give in, sometimes no vape will be produced and generally it feels "weaker."

I was buying a pack of smokes at a newstand yesterday when I saw Smoke NVs being advertised and sold. Asked the guy about it and it was like $25 for a starter kit. I didn't have luck with the cigarette-shaped e-cigs before as they ran out of battery relatively quickly, but there was something in it that made me want to risk it. Went ahead and purchased it and WOW.

The "smoke" is much thicker than I could get with my eGo. And unlike my previous eGo stick (one that was shaped like a cigarette), the battery lasted me all day instead of running out after 2 hours. After doing some research, the Smoke NV turns out to be KR808D-1 model (no idea what this really is) and it comes out of the box only about 30% charged, so I can only imagine how long it would last if it's actually fully charged.

Best part of all is that it's actually shaped like an analog and operates like one too, with no buttons to press to start vaping. I've killed an atomizer or two after accidentally holding down the button while the ecig's in my pocket.

Didn't like the Canadian flavor cartridge/cartomizer that the starter kit came with. Tried the Smoke NV menthol, and while it's better I'm still craving that throat hit. So I took an empty cartridge, filled it up with my Dekang Red USA mix (18mg) and BAM. So much better!!

I don't plan on quitting analogs completely but I'd seriously be happy if I could get down to 1-3 a day. For the first time since I started using ecigs I'm actually optimistic about the possibility of that happening.

So yes, thought I'd join this forum and participate in all the fun that is vaping.

Quick question: is it the nicotine in the liquid that causes the throat hit? I found that I can buy the Dekang mix I like from NorthernVapor.ca, but HappyVaper.com also sells a USA Mix except theirs doesn't have nicotine.

On another note.. Why can't I post anything on the Canada forum?

The nicotine will contribute to the throat hit, along with the voltage, wattage produced in the atty or carto. More volts / watts = more heat, warmer vapor, more TH.

You need 5 posts in the n00b forum to be allowed to post anywhere else. (it helps the moderators keep the spammers, trolls, advertisers, bots, and other bad guys in one place and easier to deal with..)

p.s. Welcome to ECF !!!

Glad you found something that you like! I had the same problem with the "cigarette shaped". A few months ago I purchased lava tube (among other mods) and haven't purchased a pack of analogs since. My own experience has shown me that nicotine level will effect throat hit but is not the only factor. Try different liquids from different companies and see what you like best. I agree with Huffelpuff, there is something for every vapor just search around and find what works best for you.

Congrats. Just beaware you may surprise yourself and be one of the ones who accidently quits the cigarettes without ever meaning to LOL Nic level is a part of the throat hit, but not all of it. Like Stosh said it is also volts and ohms. I get better throat hit with 3.7 volts with a 1.5 ohm atty. And others have stated what works for me may not work for you. It is an adventure finding what works, sometimes expensive, but really worth the ride!

Hello and welcome!!!

I'm new here too but wow, what a wealth of information up in here.

Like you I had the ego 510 standard kit for about a year. Couldn't really get into it until a buddy at work shared with me some halo juice. Tribeca it is called. Being a Canadian myself and not enjoying american cigarettes, I was surprised that I LOVED it. Now unfortunately, only the first 2 or 3 hits gave me that wonderful taste then.. poof.. it was gone. I spent the next 2 days trying to determine the most cost effective way to attain it again which lead me to purchasing an EGO-T kit.

It worked out well, for the most part but then I noticed I could taste the plastic in the tank and came back here to do some more research before I made the jump on the kit. Probably would have grabbed the lava tube (knight rider they call it up here). I've gone from a pack a day to about 4 cigarettes in the last 2 weeks.

Anyhow enough of my ramblings, WELCOME and enjoy the VAPE!!

Damn, I didn't expect my welcome thread to get this much replies! Thanks for the warm welcome everybody.

I have to say, I'm ecstatic to be a vaper now. It's Friday morning now, and the last pack I bought was on Monday afternoon and still has a few sticks left. Over the course of the week, I'm finding that analogs are starting to taste more and more like crap.

I'm not 100% satisfied with the Smoke NV. While I'm VERY happy with the battery life (it lasts me all day on a full charge) and the actual feel of the ecig, the cartridges they sell are pretty crappy in the sense that it runs out quick and has zero throat hit.

I'm experimenting now with cartridges and juices. I just bought a 30ml juice of USA Mix from Vaporgeek, and I'm happy to say that I just ordered a Redds starter kit from HappyVaper. From what I read, the Redds give a much better throat hit, and I love the charger that looks like a cigarette pack. Slightly concerned about the battery life, but I figure I could always use the Redds cartos on the Smoke NV battery if ever I find myself out of batt.

I can see how hobby this gets expensive quick... :p
