Okay so I don't know how many people I have seen with USB pass through problems. (go to bottom if you just want the short version)
After opening one up and taking a lookie inside I have found that it's pretty simple. There is a chip, transistor, and wires that connect to the plug and then to back (towards the atomizer).
Anyways I noticed that the pass through sometimes kicks in if you shake it. (Before I opened it anyways)
I figured it had to be a loose wire. To my surprise there is really no protection to the chip. It's just chucked in there wadded up with the wires. Turned off all the lights push the button an got to see mini fireworks.
Anyways removing everything inside just enough so nothing is touching the metal sides of the casing it works just fine.
Long story short: Open it up, make a fitting so the chip sits without touching the sides of the casing. Tada!
