My husband works at a work bench all day, no computer, but loves his pass-thru, is there some sort of adapter we can use?

Sure. Look for an adapter that plugs into AC and provides a USB output for charging phones & such.

For the passthru, you really need 1000 ma, and 5 volt to work wonderful

I wouldn't argue one bit that more is better, but the USB standard is 5 volts @ 500 ma.
A lot (most?) people use them attached to a computer. Does any computer support 1000 ma? I could see them going a bit over the standard as a cushion, but not double. Of course, I could be all wet too.

That is the standard but they do provide more current. My laptop for example has 2 usb ports and each one is at least 500ma's but I know the voltage output has to be wired together. This would supply at least 1 amp total from one usb port. However I know it has to be more because the passthrough produces tons more vapor than the battery.
Its easy to figure out the maximum current the cartomizer will draw using ohms law. Most of Steve's carts are 2.9 ohms.
What SMILIN' said is absolutely correct. I bought two wall adaptors before finding one that actually would work the passthru - both the first two only had 500 ma so ... make SURE you get one rated for 1000!!
