Been vaping a month now, no cigs at all.

My husband and I were driving on the highway yesterday, and he decides to have a cig. He was fumbling with the lighter while driving. :/

So to avoid a wreck, I grabbed the cig from his mouth, put it in mine, and lit it for him. I took a short puff, and was careful not to inhale because I was concerned that I might be tempted to smoke again.

Luckily, that was totally not the case. I almost threw up from the taste in my mouth. It was horrible!!

This was the very first time in 20 years that a cig tasted gross to me. This just confirms for me that vaping works. I have zero desire to ever smoke a cigarette again.

I love vaping. <3

My wife and I both smoked - over 60 years combined. She didn't start when I did and didn't tell me why until a week or so ago. She wanted to make sure it wasn't "just a fad; a way for me to collect expensive toys and not use them". A week or so later she asked me for a kit.

We are over 2 months smoke free :)

My test was just this last weekend. I started vaping in Sept (the day I joined ECF) and no cigs since October 15th. We lived in Philly and all the bars are smoke free. When I smoked I would go outside. You get used to not having a smokey bar :)

Well, we moved here to Florida last month and we finally decided to go try to find a place to hang out. They allow smoking in bars here. I'm a singer and haven't looked for a band yet so I wanted to do some karaoke. We stuck it out even with the stench of cig smoke. I don't think there was a person there that didn't have a pack of cigs in front of them besides Hubby and I. I managed to get two songs sung and wanted out of there.

When we left we reeked! It was so bad I hung my jacket outside to air out overnight. EVERY piece of clothing we had on went right into the laundry. OMG even my bra stunk! The sweater I had in my purse smelled like cig smoke! I had never realized how invasive cig smoke was.

The next morning it dawned on me......I never had a craving for a cig the whole time. Not even a passing thought. All I could think about was getting away from the smell.

Sweetness!! :D

My job requires me to go into other peoples homes frequently and when I go into a smoker's home I can smell the stale cigarette smell on me all day even though they usually don't smoke while I am there. My other half sometimes accuses me of falling off the wagon when I come home. I try to keep some odor killer spray in the car to kill the smell on my clothes but I can still smell it in my hair. Yuck is all I can say, and to think I used to be one of those stinky people!

Good job! Vape on!

My ex after switching to vaping tried to justify cigs in the car saying vaping was too much fumbling.

Here's a comparison

Vaping:
1. Grab the PV from the cup holder, between your legs, or wherever you keep it.
2. Put to mouth
3. Press button and draw
4. Inhale
5. Exhale

Smoking:
1. Locate cigarettes
2. Fumble around pocket for lighter
3. Pull cigarette from pack. God forbid it's the first one from the pack. I'm sure we all know what a PITA that is to unwedge.
4. Put cigarette in mouth
5. Take both hands off wheel and both eyes off road to shield the flame from a breeze and make sure you're lighting the right spot.
6. Crack window
7-28. Draw, inhale, and exhale several times over
29. Swerve around a bit as you wipe hot ash or smoke from eyes
30. Wipe ashes from lap
31. Curse yourself for burning a hole in the upholstery
32. Pull over to fish dropped, lit cigarette out from between seats
33. Extinguish cigarette
34. Spray yourself with some substance to cover up smell before going into your next business meeting

See? Smoking has a lot more steps to it.

This happens everytime I visit my inlaws, they both smoke, I never realized until now how much it clung to you, even if its a short visit, which they usually are because I can't take being in the room while they smoke.

My mom still smokes so I've yet to get away from the smell. Before I started smoking I never really liked the smell, but always ignored it okay. Now that I've been vaping for two years, I can smell the smokers in my classes and find the smell of cigarette smoke to be beyond disgusting. I remember when I was smoking smelling it always made me want one. Now it makes me spray the room.

It's all about rewiring your perspective. My theory is your brain gets rewired to expect nicotine from your PV, and the flavors and sensations associated with it, rather than from a cigarette. Beyond that if you really wanted to quit, you'll find them as disgusting as they really are because your perspective is no longer skewed to thinking "but... that's my nicotine source! They're not gross!"

It's funny to me that as a collective we can see *why* everyone wants cigarettes banned from public spaces. They really are effin disgusting.

They put a secret ingredient into electronic cigarette liquid that makes cigarettes tastes nasty.
I don't know exactly what it is, but they often use the word "flavor" when talking about it.

It is the secret ingredient the FDA is gonna save us from....

I have a lovely young v-vert that sings locally and in regional contests. Once she switched to vaping, her vocal range went up half an octave.

I LUV when she drops by for more joose and/or cartos... especially da hugs!!! Yeah, I'm an ol' married fart that appreciates vaping and it's 'benefits!!!

I remember after 2 or 3 weeks after I quit the scent became so disgusting to me. Hope your husband ends up quitting!
It took a little longer for me. For the first 4-6 weeks, the smell was still inviting and enticing. It was a battle to be around someone smoking and not want a cig. I would chain vape the whole time I was around anyone that was smoking, or that still smelled like it. Around the 2 month mark, the smell changed and became repulsive. I can deal with the smell, but it no longer makes me want one, it makes me glad I no longer use them. Of course, I still chain vape while around the smell, just to give me something else to smell lol. Now, after 3+ months off of them, I swear sitting in my office, near the center of the building I work in, I can smell when a smoker walks in the front door of the building. I had no idea just how it really smelled, or how far that smell traveled. Feel bad for my previous customers now, for having to put up with the way I smelled when I smoked.

Just after my 1 mo 'anniversary' I thought I'd be smart & try a cig...YUK!! It tasted horrible! I took one hit & put it out. And yeah, I can smell a smoker a mile away now too. But we gotta treat em w/respect cause not so long ago we were one of em. VAPING ROCKS!!

I agree with the respect part, absolutely. I never say anything to the smokers I still encounter. I have tried to get a few to switch to vaping though, but only after they asked about it. I have had some success. 5 of them have purchased kits, 2 of the 5 have completely come to the vape-side, and one is still waffling, vaping most of the time but still smoking a few cigs every day. The other 2 have given up vaping. I keep hoping they come back around, but to each his/her own.
