In general, since most passthroughs seem to have a battery and since when you vape on them (even while plugged in), really you're feeding off the battery, do the batteries also eventually die? Do these batteries have better longevity pound-for-pound (mah, etc.) with a similar, non-passthrough battery?

... Are there passthroughs that are "true" circuits, in the sense that there is no battery, it's a direct connection to the power that turns the atomizer on? Any opinion of these?

If the battery dies, does the passthrough stop working when plugged in?

Thanks, in advance.

I don't know of a side-by-side test so I can't say on #1. I know that charging them wears them out, and that trickle charging them may be less stressful. If I were to guess, I'd guess that "yes" it is better for them and thus they last a bit longer (but they all give out eventually). Can't say for sure tho.

I do know that #2 "True PTs" (without a battery) are 5 volts, not the 3.x volts that the others are. USB ports are 5 volts. They also have a large amp draw and need a AC->USB adapter (wall wart) of at least 2 amps. You'll need higher ohm atties/cartos for them too. DCCs would need a 3.0 or better amp wall wart.

Dead battery PT = dead PT. However, some have inline replaceable batteries.
