passthru for a noob?

I am a noob to building electronics but I would love to build a USB passthru or box. I am also wanting to build one that is portable with replaceable batteries. Anyone know of an easy one to start with that is "dummy proof" so to speak?

I've seen quite a few threads about homemade passthru's and I think your best bet would be to use the search feature in some of these forums to find what you may be looking for.

I did one with a 5v 1000ma wall charger for something (god knows what, pulled it from the box of wall warts) three holes in an altoids tin, one for the switch, one for the 510 pressfit, and one for the wire going in from the power supply. 4 quick solders and I'm done! IMO the way to go, why do USB, every house has power outlets.

Any idea where to get the pressfit parts to attatch the atty to?

Check out the connectors at madvapes.com. They are what I used.
