Lots of shops over there in the Orlando area. I used to get to vape meets over there, once in a while. We probably know some of the same people.

It's always a possibility.

So they do vape meets in Orlando? Is it like cloud comps or like a "vape meeting"?

I asked them about that a while back when I got my order and expecting samples I didn't get. They did say it was cause of the regulations. I did order a few sample juices (10ml) from Vape Wild and they sent me like 3-4 samples of their line along with a sample of a mystery flavor (a flavor that is new to their line but haven't gave it a name or put out for sale yet).

Yeah, that figures. It's not a huge deal. It was just a fun little thing that they used to do and I'm annoyed that the regs ended it.

The shop where I bought liquid would charge $1 for sampling and then deduct the price from your purchase. After going in for awhile they no longer charged me the $1, even if I didn't buy anything. I went the DIY path on juice and coils so I haven't had a reason to go in there in a long time.

I usually go in to show the owner what's new, grab some cotton, chitchat. Never get charged for samples. Normally they have me sample a sample of what was sent to them. Last 2 times was Lemon Twisted Pink Lemonade Watermelon and BLVK PRPL.

There aren't as many as there used to be. But there are meets. Back a couple years ago, when new shops were opening up almost weekly, there were a lot of 'Grand opening' meet ups, generally sponsored by the shop.
We have them over here on the Space Coast too. Various shops are always sponsoring meet ups. Sometimes, there's cloud and trick contests; sometimes not. We used to have Space Coast Vapers' meet ups monthly, at a local restaurant. But those have been supplanted by the shop sponsored meets.

I didn't know samples were a thing maybe Orlando might have better vape shops. I am over near crystal river (below Ocala) and I haven't seen it here. I've only been to a few and order most online. I got turned off by a shop charging double for things....

This is yet another reason I drive right by the 2 shops 30 miles away (neither has any tasting now) to "my shop", 100 miles away. They charge either a quarter or 50 cents (been some time since I did that) to taste for the day with all proceeds going to advocacy (and the occasional "free hits" on their own personal vape ;)).

They also just recently officially (and legally) became "a manufacturer", I guess so they can show new customers how to use their purchase (and set it up for them), hands on troubleshoot for customers, build/install coils, and all those good things. Not sure of limitations on what they can do, but at least their hands are not tied behind their backs.

Yes, on one hand giving in to FDA demands, but they want to stay legal and open for business.

I'm also in central Florida and I go to a few shops here in Lakeland to hang out and BS with the owners, people running the shops and customers and a couple of them don't charge for samples but one of the shops charged .10¢ for a lifetime of sampling.

Some of the shops can even build coils so I'll take my coil building stuff (wire, drill and swivels, flush cut pliers, coil jig, cotton and scissors) and build exotic coils for people and all I ask for in return is to pay the shop whatever they think is fair for the coils and installation onto their atty. I don't mind using my wire and equipment to help out both the customers and the shops and I know the money is going to a good cause keeping the B&M shops that have overhead to pay to stay in business or they will donate the money to advocacy so it's going to a good cause either way.

Wish I could give this more then one like!

Vape shops cant "give away" juice with nic anymore.... altho some still do depending on state laws...

I know some shops that I order from online will put some 10ml samples in with my order that has the mg nic that I ordered.

Local shops in my area let you sample but all the flavors for sampling are 0 nic.

Right. That's what Mister E Liquid used to do. It was fun and I discovered flavors that way that I might not have tried. They suddenly stopped doing it and I suppose regs are to blame.

I don't really get the problem. Yes, it were nice while it lasted but oh well

You don't expect free samples when you get most things. It's nice when you do but when you go to the bakery you don't get a free slice,
When you go to the coffee shop you don't get a free espresso to try the coffee out,
You don't get the front page before you decide if you will buy the rest of the paper...

I could go on but you get the gist... or is it 'jist'? :?:

Either way

I believe gist is right. Proper usage of "jist": Jist gimme a freebie dammit!

You are right, we've been spoiled by freebies and contests, but it was great while it lasted!

That is very true! However......

Should any of those or any other establishment want to give you a free sample, why should they not be allowed to? Around here, many grocery stores have little stands around the store with free samples. Sam's Club usually has a few. Back when I tended bar, there was even free beer and food on a night just before Christmas......but government made us charge, so a draw was a nickel and a pitcher for a dime. And back then, every business in our small town would give something away at Christmas time. We used to give away a nice map of all the states in a leather cover with every wheel alignment.

But it is a new age and we have regulations now to help us avoid "the good old days."

The problem to me is that it was something that the companies wanted to do that the customers appreciated but it was eliminated by legislation. I don't see what positive effect the legislation has.
