Oh my god, just got in KGD today. no words for how impressed I am. Doubt I'll use organic cotton again. The extra $$ is nothing - still cheap, and the way this stuff wicks is absurd. I didn't even fire it once before taking a hit (usually fire a couple times to rid the cotton taste) - and the first hit was PURE GOT COOKIE! Full on, instant flavor. And it was just like 3 seconds from time of squonk to full saturation. Unbelievable folks. I have one question - how to store this stuff? I was hoping it came in a sealed bag but it didn't. Makes me wonder - should I get a bag and seal it for storage, or just keep it in the box without sealing?

Another astonishment today - got in an aftermarket driptip. Had no idea it would make a difference in my vape, just thought it would look cool. The vape--even with stock airholes, didn't enlarge them--is cooler, smoother. Much more to my liking.

(does the driptip look goofy with that door, or cool?)

I think it matches well. It's got all the colors.

KGD is definitely some nice stuff, once that's gone grab some Shiseido, it's even better. As for storing, a gallon zip loc plastic bag should be just fine.

I'm little absent mined when it comes to squonking and always burn cotton. The KGD did have the best flavor and is easy to be consistent with. However I love the performance and lazy factor of ceramic, I use readyXwick

This coil and wick is three months old. Only thing I do is a dry burn like this every few days.

Man theirs some people charging a premium for KGD now on ebay SMH. I got my box of 60 for $12. I want to try Shiseido next. Its pretty much the same thing though right?

Pretty much same yes. Feels different to me, no taste difference but it seems to wick a bit better. That's just an opinion though. They are both very good. Biggest plus for me is I can find it locally, it's 165 sheets to the bag and affordable. Sheets are smaller than the KGD but really perfect size. I cut them in half across the grain and then whatever size strip I need with the grain, split the strip and have 2 wicks.

I wondered the same thing as many of you and even asked in the comments on YouTube....why not include silica as (at least) a benchmark since most stock coils are wicked with it.....for comparative purposes at least?

A good friend of mine's family owns and operates one of the larger fiber R&D, manufacturing and supplying companies in the country. I was asking him about rayon and it's manufacturing process. He told me that the chemicals used and produced during the production process of rayon were so nasty, it's no longer manufactured anywhere in the US (EPA, etc)! He wasn't sure to how much, if any, of those chemicals remain in the fiber post-production. That'd depend on the manufacturing process (offshore) especially since it's not usually made for consumption materials, rather more clothing and industrial applications.

NO rayon for me!! Ready to try the KGD after the prices and availability rebound from pbusardo's video! Right now it be easier to buy 22LR ammo!

Not sure one way or the other about any of that - definitely don't doubt it - but no rayon for me either. I like the natural stuff when possible. KGD is awesome except for one thing...i'm getting a stronger nic buzz o_O

That is too funny and I feel your pain, 22 LR and mag sucks to buy right now I don't care what anybody says. Just don't tell no one how cool 17 HMR is 'cos I'm quite enjoying seeing that on the shelf...

Regarding rayon, I have switched to that from cotton and all symptoms of swamp lung have disappeared for me. Weird tongue issues with new wick gone too. I'll never go back to cotton. Clean flavor and superior wicking right from the start and the wick lasts and lasts and lasts.

Dunno, I do what my body says feels right in these circumstances and my body far prefers cellucotton vs cotton of any kind. That's far from scientific, of course, but it is what I do. Natural does not always equal superior.

That's all I use as well, organic cotton. But I've always hated the break in period and that it starts tasting off after about two or three tanks. I don't really get dry hits with the build that use in my Kayfun though. I'm a lazy vaper so I deal with the offness for about another tank or two. I have some rayon coming.......thanks Penguiness. I'm gonna have to try some of this Japanese cotton though.

I'm weird but I like the cotton taste...to me it is like a new car smell...

That being said I love the rayon in my Dibi and Reo as I'm terrible about remembering to squonk and dry hits with cotton is beyond horrible while with rayon it's like "Huh, tastes strange...maybe need a squonk? Hmmmm..."

I have used everything under the sun for wicking. I've used cotton balls, silica, RxW ceramic wick, hemp mix, rayon, peaches and cream, bamboo, KGD, and I keep going back to KGD. It's easy to work with, wicks easy, good wicking, and no taste. The rayon also was clean, wicks like a champ, not so easy to wick. I have a life time supply of wick material! I have a whole bag of organic cotton balls I think I'll just put in with all the rest of the medicine stuff. I'm not using that anymore. You can't go wrong with either rayon or KGD.

AS soon as I receive the rayon that Penguiness sent me, I'll give it a shot. According to his test, they were neck and neck, with the kgd wicking a bit faster.

KGD is the clear winner for me someone can have my box of rayon been loving the KGD

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2

That is the problem with KGD and rayon. You have to buy so much of it and it's not cheap. A bag will last you a 20 life sentences.

Cotton Bacon...wick, wet and go! Amazing absorption and flavor......end of story.

swamp lung? o_O

When using cotton wicks on coils 1.2 Ohm or lower, I would get upper respiratory congestion from vaping. Wheezing and had to cough to clear it out. Switching to rayon has eliminated this issue for me (not to mention the flavor is far superior for me). I saw this referred to on a thread here as "swamp lung". Sounds appropriate enough to me.

Interesting! I don't use anything below 1.5ohm, but I'll have to find that thread to read about it! I don't make my own, but do have plenty of the silica type coils - perhaps they're a problem for me.

weird - good thing you switched if you had that reaction to cotton. glad I don't so I don't have to switch though

Pictor, I doubt we are dealing with the same issue since, if I read correctly, you're PG sensitive and I'm not. 50PG/50VG is my happy place. Could be though. Tell ya what, I'll build a silica wicked coil on one of my Tridents in the next day or two and see if I experience the issue again. I'm betting not, I think it was related to cotton for me. I will let you know, testing is fun! Oh, wait, that makes me a lab rat  :D

Yup, me too. As with anything all of this is very subjective to the individual's experience. Whatever works for you may not be good for somebody else! Hope I didn't come off as EVERYONE MUSTZ USES THE RAYONZ!!! ;)
