I just ordered a pass
through for my Joye 510 and am about to order a PCC. I was thinking of also getting a USB car adapter. My question is this; should I be worried about under/over voltage frying the passthrough or the PCC? I'm trying to decide between
Newegg.com - GRIFFIN PowerDuo Univ. ('06) USB AC Adapter & Car Charger and
Newegg.com - iLuv - DC Car Adapter for iPod (i109). Obviously I'd rather pay only $10 for the iLuv, especially since I already have a Griffin USB AC charger. The Griffin kit is pricey but, I trust Griffin as I've never had problems with their products before. Any thoughts?
TJ,
Not sure on the higher voltage but you need 1amp (actually 800ma says Jim Davis who would be able to answer the 5.6V 1.5amp question).
I'd go here:
Joye 510 cartridges
... too bad they don't have their PCC's in. Maybe after Columbus day - no post office today, they might have some in tomorrow??
Griffin is good, imo, too. I have a dual Belkin that I got from Amazon but I can't get that page to come up for some reason. Same device here:
Belkin Dual USB Car Charger for iPod (Black) - F8Z280-01 - Buy.com
Amazon.com: belkin dual auto charger: Electronics
Rated 1amp on the one outlet and 1amp peak, 500ma continuous on the 'quick charge'. If you have a corded usb charger, you can run the PT on the one and the charger on the other. The non corded charger is too thick to allow another plug though.
...and you might consider the wall plug when you're not by your computer for the passthrough:

Although there's a real deal out there on the wall plug here:
USB Dual Power Adapter
... don't know how the shipping works out though.
Lowest price point for PCC's are in china without shipping but RMV has free shipping over $14:
PCC
corded charger too - although I've seen them cheaper....
