I finally just set my Penelope up. I love it! I think I will probably end up using this more than Ody, maybe. We'll see. I just wish I had a small window to see liquid level... maybe I will get the Kir Fanis tube, but I really like the metal more.
One thing I noticed, I think it might be the wick, but closing the mouthpiece on the Penelope it's hard to tell when it's actually closed.. It's feels like it's closed but if I turn it a little harder it closes further. I think this is just because there is some wick in the grooves maybe? I will just have to remember how much I opened it.
Another thing is when I wrap the positive NR wire around the post and I screw the nut closed it doesn't pinch the wire as much as the Ody does. On the Ody I can pinch the wire then wiggle the wire until it breaks off. If I do that on the Penelope I can pull the wire out. SO I just wrapped it around until all the wire was under the nut and closed it as hard as I could.
Either way it's working very well!
Anyway, thanks Imeo, I love the Penelope!

That little nut has two sides, if you screw it one way it would just screw half the way, if you turn it and it does not full screw on the positive post, just use a pair of rubber gloves (some people use pliers but I prefer not to use plier on my GG devices) and screw and unscrew it a lot of times, until it full screw on the positive pin (I think the nut is nickel plated, so it could have a little nickel plated excess, so screwing and unscrewing will get rid of that nickel excess aloowing it to full screw on the positive pin).

* It is not nickel plated, the nut is made of stainless steel:

hey guys.... ill be a new GG owner in afew days with my first penelope coming from the classies. It came with 19 premade coils, silica, extra ceramic and a kirs fanis tank!!

A few questions for you.... my only experience with RBA's is with the genesis style. So needless to say the NR/R aspect of the penny is slightly intimidating and ive also never wrapped a silica wick before. I think the coils coming are 32awg, how many wraps is it going to take to make a 1.8-2.2 ohm coil?

Im also not even sure why there is a need for the NR part of the wire.... any insight on that so I better understand it would be much appreciated!

And lastly, anyone know where I can get a siam i06 510 adapter so I can put my pipe stems on this? I cant find them in stock anywhere

Thanks :)

I strongly recommend watching the videos in the first post of this thread or watching some youtube videos on the Ody Penelope and or iAtty for good info on how to join wires and also an in depth assembly to help understand the need for NR wires. In a nutshell though in a Genesis or even some RBA's there is no need for a NR wire because you have posts that basically act as your nr wire and are typically very close to the coil so you don't get a lot of added resistance and heat spanning the distance from the coil to the posts. I GG rebuildables the connections are typically some distance from your coil. In the Penelope the posative wire connection has to span from the top of the ceramic housing to the bottom of it. This is about .75-1 inch in length and would add a lot of extra resistance and head if that part of the wire was getting hot. The negative on the Ody V2 and Penelope can easily be done without a nr wire because you cen get your negative connection from the ceramic housing itself. Or you can still use a nr wire and still get basically the same result.

As for how many wraps that is going to depend on type of wire Nichrome or Kanthal, and the thickness of your wick. I highly recommend getting a multimeter or some kind of resistance tester.

Good luck. I know it can look intimidating but I recommend watching Imeo's videos and also Igetcha69's on youtube. Possibly some of Bishopheals videos also. Watch them while you wait to get it then watch them again while you have it sitting in front of you so you can get the hands on visual effect at the same time.

This was definitely my plan and I have already watched a few videos already including Igetcha's. I do have a multimeter so that wont be an issue. Unfortunately the seller hasnt written me back yet so im not sure the type or actual gauge of the wire. gonna watch GG's vids when I get home!

Its made by SS ariel but what you suggest will do the trick

So I've been using the Penelope and one thing is that after a while my wick seems to not wick so good. I have to close it and open it again which works fine. I know it's not the penny and is my setup but I'm not sure why.
I'm using 100% vg, a 3.5mm wick with 2 strands removed and a 2.5mm wick under the coils. I soaked the wicks in very hot water for a couple minutes. I also open the juice control 2-3 turns. Usually this setup works great on the ody.
Not a huge deal, it only doesn't wick well when I chain vape very fast... And I know 100% vg is very thick. I think my coil was about 1.5ohms with 32 gauge kanthal. I do need to lower my ohms next time.
Any other suggestions for better wicking with vg? 3.5mm wick is about as thick as I can fit I'm the channels.

Subver, I'm able to fit a doubled 3.5 and even tried triple 3mm but you have to twist them so they stay compact. Anyway now all I use is double 3mm wicks which work fine with boba. Don't be shy in opening the liquid control. I use to be obsessed with making it work with only 1 turn open then I realized its there for a reason. So use it. I'm still experimenting with removing strands. I have a feeling 3mm is the way to go in the channels. Maybe its just me. Anyway try double 3mm wick and leave the wick in the channels without cutting any strands.

Thanks! I'll have to get some 3mm wick just to make it easier... I think the 3.5mm minus 2 strands is about 3mm? And what do you do about the bulk in the coils with double or triple 3.5mm? I'm always afraid it'll touch the mouthpiece. And if I were to make a 1ohm coil how many wraps would I be able to get around it? Maybe I should get thinner wire than 32 gauge?

One thing I learned with my Penelope with either the steel window or the Clear I have to close and open the juice controll or the top cap semi frequently when I chain vape. with the clear I can acrually see that the area under the edge of the mouthpiece doesn't get liquid fast enough unless I let it sit or close and open something. With the SS I can't actually see it but I get the same results dry hits on a heavy chain vape session.

the pre-mades in a vid i watched came out at 1.7 Ohms and my Pene came with a bunch of pre-mades (i like easy)... I use it on my Provari, but if I had a GG I would want to wrap my own and get it down under that 1.7.
Actually my second coil metered 1.5 for some reason, but with the pre-mades I assume you are at the mercy of the length of R wire pre-set....
Any tips on varying the resistance using pre-made coils wire?

You can lower the resistance by kinda wrapping some of the res wire back on the nr wire a bit.
cool... so just wrap a little of the R on the one or both of the NR sides to shorten the R wire. thanks... not that i need it. My 1.5 was pretty sloppy though.

I still don't get what Imeo means about rapping the mouthpiece to get some of the extra juice out of the ceramic when its flooded....?
Does he mean to force the juice out the d/t? or out the other way....

3.5mm is 8 strands so 3.5 - 1 strand gives around 3.06mm. Regarding the bulk it takes practice. the 1.7 ohms premade wires work fine and not bulky at all. I get around 3 or 4 wraps. Now if you use a thinner wire than 32 gauge the problem is for the same resistance the wire will be shorter. And then although you have a thinner wraps but the overall wire is short. So it is a tradeoff thing. And keep in mind nichrome gives you longer wire than kanthal for same resistance and same gauge. If you want to go low use a 2 thin wires like 34-36 gauges and make them twisted, the Bish way. It takes practice and patience to find the ohms you want with the number of wraps you want with the wick thickness you want and that can fit :D

cut a small piece of wick and unreel the strands. That way you will see how many strands every kinf of wick has. That way you can make the calculations of how many strands you have to remove to reach the desired width of the wick sub
