Sounds like your coils are probably crossing, or one of your lead wires went somewhere it shouldn't have.

My positive wraps between the bottom nut and I fasten and remove the extra, the negative I leave a little in the channel and lop the rest off. My coils look like they arent touching. I've had the same problem over 4 attempts and its driving me crazy.

Hey GreekLion. Just to be sure you are doing it right, the one in ceramic channel connects to the positive nut and the one in the metal channel should end at the channel. Positive wire on the ceramic channel should be under the wick.

Thanks, I've been doing that each time courtesy of igetcha. I'm starting to think its my wrapping technique connecting the R/NR wires because the device fires but the resistance fluctuates.

Fluctuating resistance means weak R to NR connection. Crimp the connection with a pliers and torch the R wire to get better connection. Also coil it in a way that the joints are not in the channels but on top of the ceramic on the wick.

I had been putting the connections on the outside and not in the ceramic, that might be it. How long are your connections typically?

Yes 0.5 cm is a bit long. Shouldn't be hard to keep it at 0.2 - 0.3cm. Short must have been the positive joint touching the mouthpiece cap.

So if I twist them together, crimp it to a smaller size, and wrap it with the NR I think it sounds like I should be able to fit everything. Will post back with results!

Thanks!

If you making a single coil you should not have any E1 errors. The short you getting is do to two things:

1) A bad constructed single coil.
2) coil is not mounted properly

To correct the problem please take following pictures if you can.

1) Take a picture of a new coil before wrapping silica, I like to see your junction points of the coil.
2) Take picture of coil and wick wrapped together. I like to see how close the wraps are with one another. it should not be touching.
3) Take picture of you mounting it. The coil and wick should go in flush and not touch the mouthpiece as you screw it in down. If wraps touch mouth piece a short will occur.

Please let me know if this helps.

what ohms at what volts is your setup Greek?
I tried building my first wick but it keeps shorting and it tastes like its shorting. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Using 32 awg kanthal and silver, all my contacts seem to be ok. I got it with a premade wick and it tasted awesome, I just want to get it back to work!

Thanks

Yes, You are as always right my dear friend Bishop, when I got that error in my Ody when I preparing my coil always was because the mouthpiece was touching the coil, these always give me and E1 error on the Provari.

Cheers
