The most powerful point made was close to the end. They are going after violent video games, but over 600 kids have died for real playing real, actually violent, actually physically dangerous highschool football, and we fully support it. I'm not saying ban highschool football. I played it and loved it. I'm saying leave the friggin gamers alone with your falsified facts, and cart before the horse logic. It has been researched thoroughly. There is no link between real world violence and violent video games whatsoever.

Seriously. I want to know what the "Copycat Gland" looks like. I want to see one. Is it right next to the "Thinking about Mooses Gland", and the gland that "governs taste in breakfast cereal?" Seriously they invent some CRAZY .... to further their agenda. And I am of the firm opinion that the bullet wasted on John Lennon would've been of much better use had it been put in Jack Thompson's skull. These whackos need to stop telling us what's bad for us and mind their own business. If it was up to them we would be living unarmed, in factory-made, government distributed mini-homes, every one a copy of the other, with state-controlled media (already here!) telling us what to talk about and what to be scared of one hour out of every day. No free art, no free expression. Because a free-thinker is more dangerous to a government than a thousand arsenals.

The problem is, the intellectually dishonest have been noticing how effective Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt work for over two thousand years. There's a little mental excersize you can do whenever you suspect something is afoot:

Checks:
1) Are they "trying to save the children"
2) Are they "trying to save society"
3) Are they "blatantly ignoring things an order of magnitude worse"

Once you have those things sorted out, you start looking for the true motivation:

1) Are they "up for reelection"
2) Are they "financially benefitting from their crusade"
3) Are they "a louder *me-too* follower type that got inducted by one of the guys from option 1 or 2".
4) Who stands to benefit the most if what they are trying to achieve is accomplished?

Maybe we should take the duck hunt style games out of the carnivals too? You never know, some kid may think if he shoots enough people he'll get a stuffed animal as a prize!

I play video games. I'm not a fan of FPS because that's just me but give me a 7ft sword with a 12inch wide blade on it that I can hack and slash a few monsters to bits with and I'm a happy camper.

Both my sons played video games growing up and neither of them has shown an urge to start picking off people. If anything it has taught them how to communicate with others in co-op play and use critical thinking to figure out how to solve situations.

I feel bad for the kid in the video. That little exhibition with the rifle probably had more negative impact on his life than all his hours of gameplay combined.
