I had my last cigarette the first week of December. I wanted to quit for a few reasons, health of course was up there. During the past few years I moved up to a pack a day and started getting lung infections every time the weather changes. The last one landed me in the ER. And I was developing a chronic cough.

I've been vaping instead of smoking the past couple months and have had no coughing or breathing problems. Have any of the long time vapers noticed similar improvements, and are they lasting? It's still early for me so time will tell if I get more infections, but I'm hoping my lungs are getting stronger.

Yours are, and I have. :) I'm younger than many here, but was still getting the weather-change infections once a year but *knock on wood* dodged a lot of the worst things. Most of the effects of vaping will mirror quitting smoking. Keep with it mate, as the science is on your side -- and drink far more water than you think you need to. Everyone is pulling for you, so give yourself time and ask for whatever you need.

When I smoked (over 35yrs) I got to the point where I would weeze myself to sleep at night. Sometimes the weezing got so loud I could barely get to sleep. Dr. said I had developed borderline copd....yuck! So, I quit smoking and started chewing....yuck. Had three heart attacks, 4 stints, and bi pass surgery in one year....that year totally sucked. Even after all that I couldn't get off the tobacco. Recently I have started the vape and must say I do not weeze anymore and generally feel better. Is it a safe alternative? I doubt anything is but I am addicted to the ...... and probably always will be. This form of delivery seems to agree with me and I am slowly bringing down my Nic consumption each week. Should be at near zero Nic by summer.

I've been vaping for a little over two years now. And I can tell you that, from my experience, the improvements are lasting.
Back when I was smoking I would get airway infections constantly, especially in the wintertime. Now I barely get them anymore. And when I do their not nearly as bad or long lasting as back then.

As an additional bonus I've also gotten in better shape.
I work in the army. And back when I was smoking I had to train hard to be able to pass the physical tests. But after I switched over to vaping I just have to follow the mandatory PE, and I pass them with ease.

Almost four years of vaping has left me with no bronchitis, no chest colds, no infections, no inflamed lungs and no wheezing. Within a couple months of starting vaping, my doctor found my blood oxygen levels jumped up to levels similar to a someone who had never smoked. The benefits are pretty immediate and continue to improve the quality of my life.

Then there's dementia, which I have seen ravage a few family members. Studies have shown nicotine may very well help fend off that disease, so I'll continue to get my nic from vaping, just like I get my caffeine from coffee.

I'm glad your lungs are getting healthier day by day!

I don't think I am any better on good days, but I don't seem to have the bad days when I have to exert myself.

Don't use the MAX or RECIRC setting on your car air conditioning. Mold grows in the smoke film left inside the evaporator unit. You end up breathing the spores. I stopped getting springtime bronchitis years ago when I figured this out.

After smoking for 30 years, Ive been vaping for about 7 months now. I really can't believe the difference in my breathing! The only negative side effect I have had, is that since I can now taste things so much better, I've realized what a great cook my wife is and have gained about 25 pounds as a result!
At least now I can go walking or hiking without being winded.

Edit: try one of those quit smoking apps on your cel phone. The one I used told you how much money you saved, smokes avoided, as well as health milestones related to quitting.

Off c-sticks, for over a week now, I'd SWEAR my hearing has improved, working on getting 'wind' back. I pedal, tom get around, less I wuss out, and bus it.

Haven't had a cig since Sept. 25th 2013. I used to get bronchitis/upper respiratory infections/strep throat 2 to 3 times a year like clockwork that would last 2 weeks or more.

Since I've started vaping it's all stopped. I haven't had so much as a sore throat since then. My doctor told me last week when he listened to my lungs (had to go in for my monthly med refills) that my lungs sounded fantastic and to keep on vaping.

I've vaped exclusively for nearly four years now and I'm getting to the point that the things that afflicted me when I smoked are distant memories. I only vaguely recall what it was like during my 37 years of smoking; I have no issues now. I get sick very infrequently, and when I do I heal quickly and completely.

Recently we had some houseguests who smoke stay with us for about a week. I could hear the bouts of late night coughing and was thankful that's not me anymore.

I have definitely noticed health improvements. I coughed ALL the time. Even broke my ribs (twice) from coughing so hard. Gosh ... you think I would have stopped smoking.

When I would go shopping with family and we would split up they could always find me by listening for the cough.

Now i never cough. I never get the winter crud. One of the first things I noticed was the ability to take a deep breath.

And yes the changes last. In fact they keep improving.

Hope it goes the same for you. Embrace vaping.

:)

Smoked for 33 years, had my last cigarette a month and a half ago.

While smoking if I breathed in deep I would feel a pain in my chest, I always heard a wheezing/gurgling when I breathed and breathing felt "heavy" especially on hot muggy days.

The above is all gone. And this is only after 45 days.

I'm absolutely thrilled with out vaping is changing my life.
