Hello.

I am using eGo ONE Mega tank with 1.0 Ohm 28ga CLR Kanthal coils between 10 and 20 Watts. I have unflavoured e-liquids with 85/5/10 VG/PG/DW ratio and 8mg/ml NIC. The problem is that I am getting peppery taste from my vape. It's not burnt, it's just harsh taste all over my mouth and I am getting a blow in my throat. Sometimes I raise wattage and it's fine and sometimes I can't get a proper vape from my build.

Any idea what can be wrong? I have read on another forum that the problem can be in my coils heating up to slowly... Is this possible?

From what I understand some nicotine has a pepper taste. I think it has to do with the age of it. I DIY but have never had a pepper taste with my nic.

Old or impure nic., as mostly has already been said.
check the state of any o-rings also..but I'm betting it's the nic

Different Brands are extracted with different methods and Filtered to differing levels. This creates unique differences some appreciate and some prefer over others.

probably low quality nicotine ... try a sample of this.

120 mL EU Sourced Nicotine (100 mg USP/EP) " SAMPLE"

Myself, I can even taste cheap nicotine in most vendor juices (I refer to it as Cajun eJuice).

VT solved the issue for me.

I actually have Liters from several Vendors including VT - ChemNovatec Has great reviews.
I also purchased several of their TH Nic (made by Chemnovatech) at a greatly reduced cost. Unfortunately they seem to no longer list.:(

I have chemnovatech, wizard, MFS, Nude Nico, 12 liters total, no pepper taste at all, up to 28mg/ml(in a working solution).
The Chem TH has been out of the freezer 6 oz for 7 months. Using for test batches. Although it has turned a pale yellow, again no pepper taste or smell.
When i first started DIY 2011, DW was the rage (10%), all my juice was harsh. Almost quit DIY, quit the DW instead. Glad i did..

Thank you all for your answers. Options are:

- nicotine,
- maybe DW.

OK, today I add some pure PG and there is no more peppery and harsh taste.

If nicotine oxidize, is this bad for my health or is it just peppery taste?

Oxidation in nicotine is natural and will not negatively effect you. It will slowly reduce the strength of the nicotine.

well... lets see, the wick is exposed to air and if it sits for a while not being used, the nic oxidizes a tad and the first few hits are loaded with nic oxide ;) once that burns off and fresh nic fills the wick it gets smoother... and thats my theory :)

And is a good one I think... Just makes sense... :)
