I'm new to the forum. Two months ago I met a woman in her 70s in the parking lot of my MD's office. I was smoking, she struck up a conversation w/me and shared her experience of quitting smoking. She showed me her device, gave me a thumbnail sketch of it's operation and told me where to buy one. I bought my own setup a few days later and have not touched a traditional cigarette since then, truly a seamless transition. The IOS Vape app tells me I've saved $350 so far. So I put together some hardware for my wife. There was no coercion on my part, she is truly motivated to quit. She found some juice that she liked and started around Christmas. So far it's been a tough go for her. She is chipping a couple of analogs a day. I've told her I don't think thats a keen idea. We were told that the strength of her juice should approximate her daily intake of nicotine yet she's a very unhappy camper. Since it's just the two of us here at home I'm on the receiving end of her frustrations. I am entertaining the idea of investing in a Kevlar vest. Somewhere I recall reading that there are other chemicals in cigarettes that are addictive. In short, I'm at a loss and would like to know what I can do to help my wife feel better. Like they say, "happy wife, happy life". Thanks.

Hi there

the strength of her juice should approximate her daily intake of nicotine

This may be your issue - what is clearly working for you may not be sufficient for your wife. I'd suggest trying a higher strength liquid and see if that reduces the cravings. It may be she just needs a higher dose of nicotine.

Welcome to the forums though, and let's hope you don't need a Kevlar vest!

Well JC everyone is different in their nic needs - you and your wife need to realize that nic is absorbed slower when vaping so you do not get the quick nic rush as you do with cigarettes

You may want to change her nic level to a higher mg

You may want to get her a more efficient delivery device (possibly a VV battery and different clearo, carto or tank) I recommend an ego twist or vision spinner for the VV battery and a mini Protank 2 for a bottom coil clearo

Make sure she is using her ecig properly - press the button, slow, steady, gentle inhale for 3-7 seconds, lung inhale is optional as the nic is absorbed through the membranes in mouth and nasal passages

hope this helps

and welcome to the ECF

Hi JC and first off, welcome to the ECFs!

To9 share a short version of a long story - I quit with ease compared to my OH. He really had to battle. He went about a month longer than I did before he could get rid of the last few ciggies he was having here and there. About 7-10 days after he finally did the grouchy irritability he had all along turned into me wondering if walmart sold kevlar vests at 1am  Some wonderful folks here on the forum let me know that since he really wanted to quit (and even in his worst meltdown he did not smoke - he refused to do it! :) ) that he may benefit from a WTA (Whole Tobacco Alkaloid) Liquid.

They directed me to Aroma - that stuff was a miracle for him. He never used it as his ADV - but kept a vivi nova with his WTA and if he felt irritable he switched to that tank. I have even grabbed it for a really bad craving moment here and there and I felt like it made a difference. If this continues with your wife - you may look into these - I ordered 1 10ml bottle, that way it was no big loss if it didnt help.

Hope this info helps out your lady - I know what its like when your significant other transforms into a demon over this and truly doesnt want to be mean or to smoke. Its a tough place!!!!
