First and foremost this is my first rdta experience. That being said I enjoy this product thoroughly. The fill method although not perfect is serviceable. The build deck is perfect for my building style (which is usually a 5 wrap 20g ss 3mm id) which the split 4 hole 2 post icon style deck accommodates well with the just the 2 center holes. I thoroughly enjoy how this device looks especially sitting on top of my comp lyfe spectrum. The adjustable 510 makes it exceptionaly safe on hybrid (direct battery to atty) devices. All that being said the top cap heats up faster than any device I have ever used before and there is a significant voltage drop associated with this device it feels much weaker with the same build on the same mods with the same batteries as other toppers. All in all I believe this device would be better suited to a regulated device which is a shame as I am a devout mech user, and am in love with the idea of an rdta on top of a mech. Well the search continues.

20 ga is a pretty healthy wire and to have SS is even a bit more "stout" in the lowered ohm range... have you checked the resistance of your builds? What were you using previously? On a mech ( Im assuming you are using a mech) this will adversely effect the performance of the mod... there is going to be some serious voltage drop across that coil and thus, a serious drop in performance...

as far as top cap heating, how close is the coil set to the actual cap? Is there some contact of the wick with the cap? Every atty I have used has some heat transfer to the atty top cap, some become warm, others become quite hot ( too hot to even consider touching my lips to it) ... the ones that become "hot" are usually low gauge wire at hi wattages and have close to or direct contact with the attys cover ( wicks only not coils) ... also, duration of the on time of the power button helps increase the increase of transferal of heat energy to the surrounding metals....

hope you are using some very good batteries... with hi CDRs thats pretty low ohms for a mech... check your battery posts for black marks ( arcing).. if the small black marks are showing up you are pushing the limits... you may want to consider a regulated mod in the upper/hi end range to be on the safe side...

Yeah the coils aren't very close to the top cap and I use this build on my comp lyfe battle deck 3 post version with an alluminium battle cap s

I have the Perseus also and really enjoy it. It takes some getting used to to get the sleeve off to fill but you get used to it. Depending on the build the cap will get hot(I'm running dual fused clapton) and it does get hot if I chain it. Build quality is great, like my Icon.[emoji106]

its not how you vape but the technique you use to get to where you vape... you even mentioned that the atty in question would be better on a regulated mod... maybe its designed for a regulated mod instead of a mech... odd how human nature wants to push something beyond its original design.... Im even guilty of pushing things beyond its original intent, but I have realized it doesnt turn out as expected and end up thinking that there is some design flaw that doesnt allow what I want to occur.... too much expectations from something that wasnt made to deliver what I thought it was supposed to do....

Also like i said the only other variable in this vape equation is the rdta itself which is what led me to saying the device itself is the cause for the loss in performance

it may be... very few designers have a degree in mechanical Engineering and understand Thermodynamics let alone thermo transfer to effectively design an atty... they just basically copy the similar parameters of popular atties and produce them in mass volumes...
