Ah, no, mistyped on that one, kanthal will be ok, as will other resistance wires. But the Deeming does "deem" anything used IN vaping as tobacco, so it might not be able to be sold in vape shops. So say goodbye to any fancy coil wire (clapton, etc) unless you build your own. Heck, even cotton and rayon, if sold as wicking, will be tobacco.
Likewise pyrex, as used in tanks, will be deemed to be tobacco. Pyrex cookware isn't tobacco. Stainless steel grub screws are tobacco if sold for vaping or in a vape shop. If bought at your local hardware store, well, they're just SS.
One key of the Dooming is that if it's made to be used to consume tobacco (after declaring nic, pg and vg to be tobacco, which, of course, none are), it's tobacco. Intended use is a big factor.
Some think a way around the hardware might be to claim that it's made to consume the other stuff, who knows if that would work.
Manufacturers would, of course, still be able to make what they want, just not legally sell it in the US, without going through the PMTA process - and succeeding.
Deeming Regulations have been released!!!!
He even looks sad, like he knew what he'd done. Good pic.
