This thread is not about nicotine in second-hand vapor which has been covered in other posts. I'm curious what happens to the PG and VG. Is it absorbed in the body or is it a component of the exhaled vapor? Surely it is because otherwise the water vapor wouldn't be visible unless you were vaping in a walk-in freezer. But if it is a component of the exhaled vapor, why don't we experience films of it on stuff like our computer monitors? What happens chemically when the atomizer does it's magic?

I don't have an answer to this at all but I remember reading a few days ago about someone noticing a residue on their car windshield, they figured out it was from their vapor from vaping in the car. Now I can only imagine how much vapor was being produced and how long it took to build up a residue, I have been vaping for a week now and I chain vape while I am driving and I haven't noticed anything yet. Of course I'm only using my x2 with a clearo and a 60/40 juice so it's not like I'm blowing massive plumes of vapor. *shrug*

Good question though. I am wondering if there is a database with all the scientific mumbo jumbo about vaping somewhere. I have quite a few people interested in vaping now that I have started at work. It would be cool if there was pamphlets with all the important stuff on it that I could pass out... I think it would be a pretty cool selling point if some vendors had something like that and of course a plug for their juice/equipment *hint hint*

It does leave a film if exposed long enough, there is a thread somewhere now about someone with a greasy windshield.

and just walk in front of a fogger at a concert you will be all slimy

chemically the atty is simply getting hot enough to turn the liquid into a gas vapor. while no one knows yet the full effects of vaping, breathing PG and VG vapors have been studied to no end and shown to have little to no negative effects. you would be surprised at the amount of products with these chemicals in them, including some asthma inhalers.

In the end I think if damage from vaping can be shown it will be more of a result of things like vaping food coloring and artificial sweeteners and perfumes used to flavor them and not a direct result of vaping pg and vg and nic.

I notice my throat feels rougher with more heavily mixed, colored and flavored juices but i fet pretty bad when i was still smoking. when I vape clearish or little to no additive juices i see almost no effects.

I find it reasonable to think we expel some sort amount of nic if we expel all the carrier chemicals. On the note of car windows, it can be a chore to remove. If you vape in the car, try wiping a small spot of the windshield with a proper glass cleaner and a clean rag. I'd bet most vapers will find some amount of brown residue on the rag.

Many windshields get a film from chemicals released from their dashboards and other plastic parts caused by UV radiation, and also from the flame ......ant in the carpet and cloth seats. These chemicals are toxic! As far a film on the windshield from vaping, I'm not totally convinced.

I sit in front of my computer screen for long periods, blowing vapor directly on my monitor. It seems strange I don't get any film there.

Great read Darth. Very interesting. However, I remember the days when the inside of my car windshield was orange, my computer screens were yellow and I won't discuss the color of my ceiling over my computer. (Chain smoker....) Now I chain vape, have since cleaned and repainted everything, haven't noticed any residue as yet in the car, but my computer screens do collect dust easier and hold on to it. Thank goodness the residue is basically clear. Gotta love the swifter duster. Oh, and I'm a PG girl.

I've been vaping for a year and a half. If i'm in my car i'm vaping, and I keep the windows rolled up. I'm sure if I used glass cleaner and a paper towel I'd end up with something on the paper towel. But as it is, my windshield is completely transparent as far as I can tell, even when the winter sun is at that irritating angle that puts water spots and smudges into sharp relief while driving.

I have no scientific basis for this assumption aside from a good education and fair level of intelligence:

I would surmise that the same tars and associated residue that are in analogues that USED to make such a diabolical mess within our lungs are the self same chemicals that get deposited onto surfaces around the areas where we used to smoke. These chemicals by their very nature would attract all manner of detritis and chemical compounds and latch onto them thus encouraging the build up of the staining and dust.

I make this observation from my personal life.. although not a COMPLETE and utter geek I do have a collection of, well: "collectibles", from various passions such as Star Wars and other movie merchandise and I was having to thoroughly clean them every 2-3 months - the crud that came off them was amazing as well as downright annoying - and some things have been stained beyond recovery due to the nature of the materials that they are made of.

Similarly the buildup of dust on all my electronics (I work from home in an office full of computer, photographic and all manner of miscellaneous electronic equipment) was downright annoying requiring hoovering and dusting at least twice a week.

However in the last 3 months since vaping exclusively I have noticed:--

[1] Staining and discolouring of collectibles equipment general household now practically non-existant.
[2] Dust depostion - I'd say at almost 25% of previous!

These observations genuinely surprised and impressed me - againt fortifying the desire to NEVER return to the old ways ever again....
