I have been searching these frums until I want to stab myself in the eye and can't find the info I am searching for so I am hoping you wise veterans will have mercy on me and have the answer or at least point me to the right place.
Can someone please explain the difference in the ratio of pg/vg in throat hit, flavor and cartomizer gunk up.
I am using an egot battery with boge lr cartos. Looking to try some new juice and loved Gorilla juice but found it made me feel like I had heart burn or something... any thoughts? TIA.

I will try and help the best I can. As it pertains to throat hit, typically the higher the VG content the less throat hit. I don't feel that VG, regardless of concentration, takes away from the flavor of the juice, if anything it sweetens it up. I also use LR boge cartos and wont go above a 50/50 blend of PG/VG, although I have used 100% VG in one before and it worked but it did not wick well and would ahve to add juice often. The flavorings in the E-Juice is more the culprit in gunking up the cartomizer then the VG, flavorings that have sugar for example.

Hope this helps, If there is anything I missed just let me know and I will try and help.

The heart burn probably didn't have anything to do with VG/PG - that's more likely the flavorings - any fruit flavors do that to me, and there's banana in Gorilla Juice, which is why I can't vape it.

I hesitated trying all-VG juices for a long time because of all the comments here that say it's light on throat hit, gunks things up, etc., but eventually I found VG more satisfying because of all the thick vapor, and haven't had any issues with consistency that couldn't be solved with a few drops of water if needed.

I think flavoring has as much of a role, if not more - you can find an all-VG tobacco that has way more hit and is thinner than an all-PG vanilla. You just have to try the flavors and mixes that interest you and see what works...

MattyT: Thanks for the info. The search for the perfect juice is a long and confusing road. :)

jplanet: Say it isn't so! I love all the interesting flavors I have been trying and didn't even consider that could be causing the heart burn. The weird thing is I rarely get heart burn from foods but chain vaping has been bringing it on. I will try some juice with more vg and see how it works for me I have been using 50/50 when offered a choice since I never knew what to order. Thanks for your help. :)

VG tastes fine. It's just thicker than PG and doesn't wick well in polyfill filler carts and cartridges. 100% VG is best vaped in a drip tip atty, although it is widely used in all sorts of atties. VG in cartos is best vaped at 70pg/30vg, although some people swear by 50/50 mixes in their cartos. It depends on how tightly packed the filler is. If it soaks in within a few seconds after you put a drop in the carto, then it will work fine. If it sits in a puddle, expect a dry vape.

Carto tanks work better with a high PG mix, as well as clearomizers that use a rope type wicking. All VG just doesn't soak in well, although you can invert a clearo from time to time for a recharge and a carto will recharge the coil area if you keep the ecig battery down when you aren't vaping. Set it down vertically and you can still get VG to wick if you aren't constantly hitting it like a vapor fiend.

Mixes give you the best of both worlds. Here's a graphic result of a poll done on ECF about mix preferences.
