I have been ordering for sometime now from MBV at 50/50 12-18 nic for sometime but here lately I have been having to get a lot of flavor shots to get flavor. I like flavor a lot more than the throat hit, I am not a real big fan of that throat burn as I call it so can someone please explain to me the best way for me to get good flavor and vapor without getting a lot of extra shots or is that even possible. I have looked at a lot of youtube videos but just want to know what is the best way for me to order my juices or get the best flavors. I usually order things that are sweet and creamy, minty and fruity. Thanks for any help on this.

It's my understanding that the PG is what makes more flavor in the mix, and that the higher VG ratio makes more vapor. I get my juice from Mt. Baker and I order 80 pg/20 vg with no extra shots and like the juice very much that way. The flavor is very good, and I get quite a lot of vapor, too. I'm not into "clouds" but want to feel like I'm exhaling something, and that ratio works great for me.

I make my own juice with 20% flavour at 70vg/30pg, no issues with flavour with high vg juices.
Most companies put 10-15% flavour in their mixes, so extra flavour shots is the best idea for you. Some companies do high vg mixes, so give them a try and see what the flavour is like.
Also remember that higher Ohms will give you better flavour even on a vv/vw battery/mod, also the TH won't be as strong. vaping at 2.5Ohm+ gives a nice mellow vape with very good flavour. If you then throw in high vg juice you get more vapour also :D

Let me make sure I get this straight bear with me I am knew to all this and this may sound dumb. Since I have been ordering at 50/50 and having to add flavor shots I should change my pg to 70/30 or 80/20 I am lowering my nic levels down to 12 or 6 this time since I can see I am not really needing the nic so I will get more flavor with the 80/20 and maybe not a very strong throat hit if I lower the nic level but not have to add a lot of flavor shots or should I just stick with the 50/50 and add flavor

Yes, I think you should order your e-liquid in 70PG/30VG for best flavor, and lower nic levels if you really don't need the nicotine. I am all about flavor too, and in the beginning, it was really hard for me to taste e-liquid. Some of that may have been my 37 years of smoking burned out taste buds, but I kept trying different juices until I found some I could taste.

There is also a point at which adding more flavor to a juice will render it tasteless, referred to as the flavor load. I would switch to 70/30 at regular flavor and try that. Then if you want a stronger flavor, try it with a little more. Some vendors, like deejStuff eLiquid, The Apocalypse can wait..., will allow you to add flavor in small increments. he starts at 125% and has choices for 150%, 175% and 200% at no extra charge. I suggest you start with 150% at 70/30 and go from there.

I have been making my own juice for a while now and have not noticed any less flavor with less PG. I am actually making 100% vg now, except in the case where a flavor may have a PG base (which the majority of mine don't).

Rule of thumb: PG gives more thraot hit, VG gives more vapor. As for which one promotes flavor more, I haven't seen a difference at all. Some flavors just tend to be more prominent than others. I would say go with a higher VG and add the extra flavor shots to the ones that you feel are weaker in flavor.

Another thing, are you strictly vaping, or do you have an analog once in a while too? The only reason I ask is because your palate is covered when you smoke and flavors don't "pop out" as much. Once you are off the analogs, your palate cleans up and flavors taste much better!

I am strictly vaping no analog since April 1st I actually started vaping March 24th but my last analog was April 1st

Very good! I have been vaping since last August, went off analogs strictly to vaping in 1 day. Fell off and started smoking some again in October. It was a battle back and forth for a while. I'm back on solid now and have NO intentions of lighting up again, not even the "just a couple a day" that I had somehow justified to myself.

Lots of good advice. I love me some MBV and I always order 50/50 so I can have a balance but I like a decent throat hit.

Nicotine and PG both contribute to throat hit so I'm thinking if you go 70pg you're gonna get more of what you don't want.

If it were me I'd stay with the 50/50 and either keep the flavor shots or buy some flavor liquid from MBV to add yourself. I am wayyy to bad at math to figure out which way would be cheaper.

This is so confusing and I am needing to order several on Friday just don't know if I want to change or not UGH and all the ones that I am wanting and needing to order they have just about all over the board on what ratio they use but most get the extra shots. I just don't want to over power the liquid and ruin my vape

One of the (very few) downsides to vaping is the trial and error. There really is no way around it because EVERYONE is different. What tastes like complete heaven to me may taste like poop to you.

All you can do is remember:

VG- vapor production and is thicker than PG
PG- carries flavor and creates throat hit
Nicotine- creates throat hit (and at higher mg's can taste "peppery")

I guess just try to read the reviews on what flavors you're buying and average out the responses.

Maybe you can just choose 3 or 4 "configurations" you want to try. It would be ideal if you had a flavor you love already so you could try different mixes (PG/VG/flavor shots) of one thing.

The bottom line is you are prolly just gonna have to buy a few bottles to figure out what you like best.

Good luck and make sure you let us know how it turns out :)

Thanks and you are right just gonna have to try and error. I started out with first at 80/30 then went down to 50/50 so maybe I will try 70/30 and see what happens. I will let you all know in a few weeks cause these will have to steep for a week or so. Thanks again for all the help. :)

I also, order from MVB...love them! PG make me break out so I was looking for a flavor that gave me a sense of throat hit but not really. I never smoked menthol but I saw extreme ice and thought why not? So I tried and it works to satisfy the crave. It is also good from day one. I get 100% VG due to my pg allergy and this flavor really works. I have tried some other ice flavors and I think they are good also. I spent a lot of time and money trying to find the right combo that worked for me due to I was closed minded and thought I would hate menthol. Order some samples also this way you can try for small cost

This is also the problem with 'flavor shots' and not so much with the PG/VG ratios..

MBV has very inconsistent flavor on different juices so you constantly have to try different ratios and different amounts of flavor shots.. its aggravating and one of several reasons I stopped ordering from them a long time ago.

Juice should have great flavor by default without the need to mess around with extra shots.. I get that people like the option, but most of their flavors REQUIRE extra in order to even taste decent.

Once you try some higher end vendors, you will understand what I mean.

If you don't mind could you give me so better vendors I am skeptical to change but I am just not sure now.

The equipment you are using can also affect flavor. About 2 months ago, my daughter and I switched from using cigalikes to Kanger Evod setups. Before we switched, we were quite happy with the flavors we got from Mt. Baker Vapor at 18 mg nicotine, and either 80 pg/20 vg or 65 pg/35 vg, no flavor shots. When we switched, we noticed that the flavors were somewhat muted in the tanks, whether we used the polycarb Evod tanks or the Protank 2 minis. We switched our preferences to 50/50 with 1 flavor shot, and are happy with the result.
