It depends on what you want from the vape -- good strong flavor and excellent throat hit, or tons of vapor?

PG provides stronger flavor, supports the nicotine throat hit much better; high PG can even compensate for lower nic, for good throat hit.

VG provides thicker vapor and more of it; if you don't want such a strong throat hit, then lower PG, higher VG would be a good choice.

Many people start with 50/50, and depending on how it strikes them, go more towards one or the other. If you have any type of breathing problem, VG might make it feel/seem/actually be worse; VG is a lot thicker, and causes a thicker coating in the airways as the vapor condenses. But many people find PG to be quite irritating.

50/50 is probably a good place to start, for many people. I started at 70%PG/30%VG, because I knew I wanted a strong throat hit, and then I found that I like 85% PG even better.

For several folk, PG and VG ratios are dictated by their sensitivity to one or t'other. I can't take PG over 10% max and then only for a short time- I get a hard hacking constant cough and raw throat, raw sinuses.

So order sample sizes in different ratios to determine what works best for you, before you spring for 30 mls of this and 30 mils of that. :)

so glad im not the only one with this issue! I can do 30% PG, but 50/50 screws me over.

I've felt that raw throat and sinuses so I know it's no joke, it's truly a misery and takes a while to heal after your sinuses get like that, but for me, it required 90% PG over several days' time while coming down with a head cold. Yeah I was a miserable puppy, with all that going on; who knows, maybe it was the rawness of my sinuses that let the cold virus get a foothold. But as soon as I went back to 80% PG for a day, and the next day back to my usual 85%, my throat started getting better. Sure did take the sinuses a while though, over a week to get all the dead skin from the chemical burn out of there. Miserable!

But anything more than about 20%-25% VG and I just can't breathe, so I have to walk that razor's edge with PG, if I want to vape at all.
