PG is thin and lets through the most flavor, most nicotine TH, most nicotine irritation but makes thin visible vapor that disappears quickly

VG is thick and dulls everything PG lets through but makes nice thick vapor that hangs around longer

Most people use blends. IMO the optional blends for various methods...

Atomizer + drip tip or cart: Anything works as long as it flows at least as fast as your vape it

Simple stuffing cartomizer: I find 20% or less VG keeps the carto working well longer - good wicking, good drag

Dual coil carto: (these are for big 450mah+ models only due to the intense power use of 2 coils) Some say they can vape up to 100% VG in these but you may expect shorter use out of each carto

Reservoir cartos and tanks - these like the thickness for 20-30% VG and less will work but may leak more easily. Some thinner 50/50's may work.

NEITHER PG nor VG is harsh. NICOTINE is what is harsh.

VG shouldn't be harsh. Sure your atty isn't running dry? VG has a full feeling to it but doesn't carry much flavor. I'm not sure where the harshness is coming from - could be the nic base used in your juice. Could be you're adjusting to your equipment and need to top off more often. Is it happening with one or all of your juices?

Dormouse, jerkwater, and iceberger covered it all. PG gives you better flavor. VG gives you better vapor. A mix is usually where most people end up. 70/30 is good for me, but I like 100% PG in cartos. Right now, I'm vaping some Backwoods Brew Malty Toffee that's 40pg/60vg. I've been vaping 100% pg in Boge cartos and when Autumn hit, the dryness created come throat issues and PG makes me cough. ;)

The Malty Toffee goes in my drip tips and my variable voltage box mod. I get good taste and aroma along with clouds of thick vapor from the Malty Toffee at right around 4v on a 3 ohm drip atty.

All, since I only have two bottles. I've been keeping my cart full and have been dropping into the atty as well. This is 36mg juice. Can't wait to try some other brands and flavors but my car just broke down... money is tight. But yeah, pretty harsh and mornings are the worst.

I like having some nice vapor - it's good feedback that your carto is working well and just psychologically like smoking - the exhaling of the vapor. With 100% PG there can be little vapor left to exhale. And nicotine in 100% PG can be irritating to mouth, tongue, throat or even lungs because nicotine is a skin irritant. Even 10-20% VG helps to get rid of irritation and add nice vapor while leaving most of the flavor and TH and leaving the juice thin enough to work with any cartomizer.

I started with 100% PG (tongue got numb and sore) then went to 70PG/30VG (very nice blend - I was use atomizer + cartrdige) but when I switched to using cartomizers I was blending 2 juices in the carto (one 70/30 and or 80/20), and I noticed every time I added the 70/30 juice it got harder to get a good drag out of the carto like the airflow and juice flow through the stuffing was reduced. I switched to only use 20% and less VG in cartos and now I can get 7 or more days good use out of each carto.
