Ok so when u got it did it work. Then u put it into the prototype and it did not. Then u put it in ur sb and it worked two puffs. Then u changed the wattage and its dead? Just want to be clear. Sounds like it may have been a faulty unit. Possible since its still pretty much beta for now. I'm sure u double checked ur wiring to make sure that is all correct. But as I understand its would just be basic wiring as it would go on top of the battery am I correct? As long as you did ur wiring correct sounds like its faulty unit to me.

Yes, it worked first go in the SB, now I wish I would have left in in there longer...then at least I'd have an opinion..

I checked everything---even stacked dimes to simulate the "Kick" so as to check there was enough power in the 18490 MRI.

I'll call Brad (Grip guy) he has one and see if he can verify the readings pole to pole.

I received instructions with it, which included the instruction not to bug Brandon as he's max busy (I get that, and respect that) so I'll pursue alternate sorces of info first...

Sigh, well hey, It's just a proto so these sort of things are to be expected..

I'll keep you all posted...

Hope you've contacted Brandon by now fono.

I tried to find a datum about polarity and the Kick to share, but no success. As long as you didn't put it in upsidedown, it should have been fine.

The Kick is supposed to be good for newbies so even people like me can use it.

I may have put it in upside down, out of the desire to cover all the possible things to check.

If that's a game ender then it just might be my error if so

oops...facepalm

Whoa is me...extended exhale..

OK,

Here's the set up---I like it!!

k-set-up.jpg

Now I did stretch out the copper spring a mm or so just for clarity...

But as you can see the addition of a magnet/sandwich sort of seals the deal as it were...

All in all I'm quite pleased---you can have it all now, and be state of the variable wattage art...

Personally, I like the simplicity of an 18650 with the rated atty of your choice...

The instructions said this spring contact will likely be the final version, still I think the Prudent new Phidias owner will wait for the final version before sending the "kit" off to me...

So, there it is..

Glad you got it worked out, fono. I like the magnet idea.

Now you can give that Variable Watts a good try.

:)

What size IMR did you use? 18490 or 18500?

Mine is still fried--I'm willing to take the blame, as it did work right out of the box...

18490 is what I'm using...Thanks Tea

Time to feed the chickens
