Hey Tiff,
It seems more and more vendors are putting out the 2.0 atty. As far as I know, Isaac from Welcome to IkenVape was the first to be able to dial in the ohms that well. His attys have US produced internals and are manufactured in China exclusively for his lines. I've tried about 8 different cartos and atties from him and they've all been head and shoulders above others I've tried. I sold a lot of stuff on the classifieds because I just didn't feel like using other stuff after trying quality. I really like joye 306's for LR, but they're hot and inconsistent. His LR line is being restocked in a few weeks due to Chinese New Year delays, but I've heard he's good to go.

I will say for GP I have tried Cisco's as well. He's good, but more expensive than Isaac and I don't think they're as good. He seems to be more consistently stocked, but there's a price the consumer pays for constant production. I know from conversations I've had with Isaac that he'll gladly send back a whole production line if it shows serious inconsistencies. Because of this he gets more respect from his manufacturers over time and his customers aren't stuck with product that isn't DOA, but definitely sub-par.

what other wood are you hacking at fono? I wonder if Madrone would be good? I don't know how hard it is but we used to have a bunch of those trees in the neighborhood i grew up in...very pretty

Hi tiff,

It's confidential for now, as I've yet to see if it's (a certain technique) going to be practical...I'll share once I see how it turns out.

I want to do some Birdseye Maples, because they are just so pretty, then the Cali pepper, and I'll Chainsaw then resaw some of the highly figured native (has grown wild here for thousands of years) Honey Mesquite...

and we'll see

thanks
fono

I'm hunting down a source for fruit woods also...

Can't wait to see them fono. Is the Cali pepper going to be resistant to shine like the walnut? I'm not sure where I read that in this thread, but I think i remember you were saying because of the smoothness of the wood it doesn't take as much oil. Am I remembering this correctly?

BTW I got some stealth adapters for 901 and 801. They work great with this feed system! The needle pokes just above the adapter and feeds my 801 and 808s really well. I'm big on the 306 and 510s for LV, but use the 801 and 901 for HV. I've been loving them. Check them out if you use adapters on your Phidias. I got mine at avidvaper.com but more and more vendors are carrying them.

Well, you can make anything shine if you dump enough slickum on it...

It's just not my style though---shiney feels slippery, greasy-- and that's no way for a fine piece of wood work to feel...

You can add to my finish, and that's a feature really....

The denser the wood the more it will shine in time...

These are all hardwoods, well not the Pine really but it has other qualities, weight for one...

I put days into the finish on a Phid, and having them protected is really my only goal.

they are shiny when I'm done with the last coat, but I hand rub them out with a 0000 abrasive pad after that to make them smooth and take the shine off...

I do that.

right-on
fono

PS. it's the right thing to do...

I'm of the same school of thought. I oil mine up once a week overnight and wipe it clean in the morning. Not sure if the mineral oil protects or what, but I feel good doing a little maintenance on my phirst born. I'm expecting another. The gestation period is short on these little beauties! :)
