Everyone I'ma little slow here it seems. I ordered my phidias from other site and then did all my reading. And If I had done the opposite I would have understood there is two versions. What are the odds I'm thinking to myself. So at least I'm caught up and understand now. As a newbie let me say for the record it tookme a whole day to realize this after my order was already placed. Not a good experience. They should not both have the same exact name!! Needless to say my order will be returned and will place one through fono. Thanks for all your patience.

i wondered about pinching that needle in there too... a joke in bad taste always came to mind as i tentatively poked around; yet each time it got in there in the most diligent fashion.
Regarding attys.. i have a bunch of new from Ikenvape LR 2.0 Ohm attys for various mods, and the reason for sharing this is to say that LR's come in different resistances. The standard and authentic joye LR is always around 1.5 Ohm, which is always too hot for me, so i got rid of mine (very easily traded or sold as they are in demand) for the higher resistance ones... they are available from 1.7 to 2.0 Ohms from various sources.
For my Phidius I am super happy with a Totally Wicked 510 which came with my Tornay-egos and clocks in at 2.1 Oms... Please try these as it is not hot but it is the bomb; probably as close to a LR atty as you can get.
So far it is the perfect atty for an 18650 PV and the Phidius' penchant for being hot is a plus.plus.

I like a dark semi-sweet flavor in my Phidius... it's a coffee cream with smoky hints of waffle and toffee and tasty finger... (yuck? it's really goood). I imagine a really good tobacco would sound better, but although I'm a chain vaper, I'm a lightweight heheh.

Here's the latest... the most recent update 10-22-10

the Last of my reserve of Phidias in a Basket...

phidbask_cr.jpg

X--X--X--7--X
2--X--6--X--X

If they're Xed out they are already sold..

Some of these designs will be retired...

The ones on both ends (top and bottom) and in the center column top and bottom will be retired.

Left end top and bottom:1. and 2. are Babinga Chassis and end caps with Padauk inlays. These are a real favorite of mine, but alas, low in contrast.

Center Row top and bottom; #5 and 6 are Purple Heart chassis with Paduak inlays and caps--(the inaugural design) time for a change.

Far Right Top and Bottom #9. and 10 are Babinga Chassis with Purple Heart inlays and end caps...These are also a favorite of mine, they are however very low contrast--sneaky cool.

If you want something on the rare side these would be the ones to pick...
------------------------------

Number 3. (the top of the second column from the left) Figured Lacewood with Purple Heart appointments.

Below it # 4. is a fine looking Plain sliced African Wenge with Paduak appointments.

The Remaining column, fourth from the left, #7. and 8. are Figured Lacewood chassis and end caps with Birdseye Maple inlays...very cool.

This is the last of my stock on hand---I'll be starting a new production run soon.

If there are any requests, either for Lefty units or special wood combos now would be the time to tell me about it...

Thank You All
Best Regards
fono

Re: eGo (and other) batteries and 3.x volt vaping. The batteries that come with the 510 and 801 and 901 (and to a lesser extent the 808D-1) all have the same basic components. The bigger battery mods like eGo, Riva and Hello-016 are built the same way as the regular batteries. All have a cell (the battery part), switch and small PC board with a mosfet driven power feed. When the switch is on the mosfet on the PC board takes the 4.2 (just off the charger) to 3.3 (almost dead) Volts (most of the time its around 3.7, the nominal voltage) and feeds it to the threaded connector. This current is pulsed on and off in an attempt to deal with the low C (discharge rate max.) of these smaller batteries. Between the pulsing and other circuitry the output of a normal battery looks to be around 3.2 to 3.3V when the battery is running at its nominal 3.7V. The KR808D-1 is better at this, either less circuity or better/less pulsing so it runs more like 3.5 to 3.6V.

Your Phidias isn't nearly so fancy. Its just a battery and switch. When the switch is on the full voltage of the battery is fed to the atomizer directly. With the nice solid wire and minimalist design there is pretty much no voltage loss. So that 4.2-3.3V is fed right to the atomizer…
BUT…
there is the max discharge rate (or C) issue. For a LR atomizer a smaller battery cannot supply enough current fast enough to run the atomizer properly (allow it to get hot enough). Even with an eGo or Riva you're running into C issues. These don't apply to the bigger 18650 battery that the Phidias uses simply because its capacity is so much bigger. Bigger capacity means better (bigger) C values.

So when you compare an eGo with a LR atomizer to the Phidias with an LR atomizer the Phidias will be much hotter because 1) there is no fancy mosfet circuitry which reduces voltage and 2) the bigger capacity 18650 battery has a much bigger C and so can actually supply all the current that LR atomizer wants but which the eGo can't deliver.

C, the max. discharge rate, isn't nearly as much of an issue with a normal atomizer or cartomizer. You still have the simple circuitry vs. fancy mosfet losses so your Phidias will make the regular atomizer hotter also. Its just that the difference isn't as large.

Does your 3000 mah have a long button or a short one? Does it fit well or is it forced in?

If you mean the little part on the positive end as being a "button", then it is very short, just a little nub is all that's there. No I dont have to force it in (there's that open door again .. but I'll try not to walk into it). However the spring is compacted almost all the way. Yes yes yes I know Fono said not to compress the spring ALL the way in, but there is maybe 1/2 mm of room left where maybe I could slide a piece of paper in between the last spring LOL, so to my way of thinking that means it isnt "forced" in LOL.

Hey it works fantastic, I have 2 of the them and they are great, their specs say they're 68mm long. I checked with Fono before I used the first one and he said as long as the battery wasnt bending to it's side and fit in OK and if I didnt have to force it in then he thought it would probably be fine, and so far it is better than fine :)

I have several kinds of 18650's- the gray, blue and even pink ones(2600 mah) none of these will fit correctly. They will work but the lid won't close well. The orange IMR and AW IMR fit perfectly but only 1600 mah. Since I use mainly LR atties the 510 and 306's, these are the batteries that are recommended. I don't know why so many cry about it being too hot of a vape, it's never too hot for me!
