IMO, to get the most out of a dual coil, it's best with a mechanical and thicker wire (lower gauge). But you're getting there, next time try double wick, or less wraps, to get yourself slightly lower ohms. I haven't used one in a while, but I recall the Vamo being able to go as low as 1.2. One less wrap on each side should get you close to this with your current setup.

So you think the tripled up wick isn't as good as double wick?

I can use my mech mod for this rda as well, I'm not really interested in doing any sub-ohm vaping or anything like that, more that I'm just looking for a trouble free and rebuildable dripping atomizer. I like the variable power of the vamo so I can dial in the taste/heat of the vape which I could not do with my mech mod.

It should be doing OK at 15 watts, but 8-9 wraps is going to take a little longer to heat up. If that's what you mean by you are hitting the amp limits, maybe a higher gauge, thus thinner wire and less coils might heat up faster. If you feel like you're hitting the amp limit, 32g kanthal at 1.0-1.2 ohms on a mechanical will be pretty good, it's what I use a lot.

IMHO the V5 is one of the best low budget rda units around. I love mine but I always use it as a dual wick device on a mech. making the wick thicker by doubling or more will make the coil bigger which uses more wire which makes the ohms higher. The important thing is to not choke the wicks by wrapping the coil too tight. Using a vamo you can get a 1.2 ohm result. just checked this: 3mm wick doubled and 6 wrap 32ga kanthal is about 2.5 ohms. If you make 2 identical coils with 6 or to make sure 7 closer together. you could run it on a vamo. It should work out real nice.

Ok first you need to tread this chart....

http://www.discountvapers.com/kanthal-a1-wire-resistance-chart/

The second thing is remember that any electrical connection is going to be like a water pipe. The electrons flow through the kanthal like a pipe. If you ever did any plumbing it might be easier to wrap you head around under standing water pressure and pipe diameter in relation to electrical current.

Now there is a really good thread on the forum that talks about the theory of wire temps. If you get a chance make 2 2 ohm coils with different size wire and test them out in different attys. when you try to run coils in parallel with hire gauge wire you need to bring the wire size back down.

Running duals on 30g you'd probably want to run 20+ watts to keep the heat up. To achieve that you would have 2x 1 ohm coils = .5 ohms.
This can't be done on the Vamo.

My best suggestion is still set up 2 2.6 ohms could with 32g which will but you at 1.3 ohms, just above the 1.2 ohm limit of the Vamo. That would give you a pretty nice vape at 10 watts and gives you some head room to walk it up to 15 if you need more.
