I don't know if this is the correct forum for this topic. I didn't see a forum that this would seem to apply to. mods please move this thread if it belongs somewhere else.

PhotoBucket just changed their business model. Any pics that you have hosted there will no longer show up here unless you pay $500 a year for an upgraded account. I was wondering why my pics weren't showing up. I thought maybe it was because I'm a new member, but then I saw that my pics weren't showing up on any of the sites that I normally visit. So if you use PhotoBucket for sig pics, or to illustrate a point in one of your posts, or to host your avatar instead of uploading it here (I don't know if that's even possible), then it won't work for you any more unless you fork over the cash. I'm going to dig around for a different free hosting service. If anyone has a great free hosting service then, please, chime in and give suggestions. Thanks.

Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

I've had a PhotoBucket account for a long time. I don't even remember when I signed up for it. It's handy for protecting your privacy and they added some stuff that makes it easier to use with a smart phone lately, so it was convenient. Although it has been buggy and slow for the last six months or so. Slow and buggy enough that I was thinking of getting rid of it anyway. This latest change just forces my hand.

You specified free, so I don't know if you'll find this to be your cup-o-tea, but it's FAR less than $500/year and it's an option which provides far more than image hosting.

For more than a decade I've had an account at a web hosting service. This is primarily for hosting my website(s) but has the added bonus of unlimited self-hosting for photos. For the unlimited space, all the tools you can shake a stick at, 5GB backup, and even your own domain name, it would cost you 21¢/day, $6.37/month, $76.40/year.

Might not be a deal if ALL you want is photo hosting though.

Thanks for the suggestion. I pretty much just need to find a free alternative for hosting pics.

They are completely off their rocker with that $399 pricing. In fact, I think they just committed suicide.

Yeah. I think the only thing they are doing is drawing people to their site who are trying to figure out what is going on. I guess they'll generate clicks on their crappy ads this way...right up until nobody uses them anymore.
