"That's yummy" when used by anyone over the age of 6
Beginning sentences with "So..."
"Calm down." (when said by the person who just drove you to crack a nut)
OMFG
"Are you still smoking that thing?"
As previously mentioned, "I could care less", "irregardless", "supposably" and "I seen".

Oh, and this isn't a phrase, but it torques my beans when someone carries a non-aggressive animal by the scruff of the neck and says "It doesn't hurt them. Their own mothers carry them this way!" What choice do the mothers have?

" ... you know what I mean?"

It induces cringe because immediately, I desire smacking the person very hard. My thinking is, "no you waste of meat, you've been speaking a weird language to me, no idea in blazes what you said at all. I'm so stupid too, I'm guaranteed inferior to you because I no understand the words out o' you mouth".

"i have a question ..."

Do you think I need to prepare for you asking a question? Would it matter if I interjected "yeah, go take a leap"? You're obviously going to ask, so, ask and be done. Again to me it seems to infer that you, the one broached are inferior and only deemed useful for the required information.

Have been told it is the other way around. The person expressing these is the one feeling inferior, or insecure. One expression allegedly is a conversational cue to 'alert you' that they're expressing an opinion. Yeah, it still places the person it's direct to as being inferior, they need coddled enough to be alerted to that an opinion is being expressed. Sorry, these just grate on me very bad.

I dislike feeling stupid. I know I am anything but stupid. Yes, I also know they are only words and no one can injure you without your consent. These only words though to me carry the force of raping the intellect, demeaning a person. Rape is about power, like these words. The objective is to remove power from the victim, or intended victim.

I also know that I am anything but a victim. I survived a lot in life. I continue surviving. That is probably why these words grate. They presume to be violators when it is likely those using them have no clue at all what is going on when they are used. Although, I may be surprised and they may.

That's why I do not bother expressing this to those people. Then, an assault would explode. "Oh, you're just paranoid", would be the foothold they would rally. Since when did being a critical thinker and aware of the situation become being paranoid? Oh wait, my other grating words ... "after 9/11 everything changed". Right, sorry I forgot.

Nothing has changed. It is all the same corrupt bull dung shilling out lies, spreading hate and fear. Gee, look at vaping and you can see it. I'll digress though. Even here in our slightly off topic Lounge, this likely is not an appropriate venue for such discussion. My humble apologies.
