OK, I give up.. Sidetracked again!

Here is where I pause my soldering and bench cleanup to poll everyone: I've seen some awfully nice pics posted - closeups in particular. Circuitboards, chips, soldering/machining, entire mods..

What do you folks use and what would you recommend. Links to amazon and ebay and even walmarts are suggested. Given the usual cash-depleted state of a modder ;-) I'd recommend the price-range be under $200, (or we'll have nothing to photograph! ;-)

Thanks, folks!

I'd suggest getting what l3oertjie uses but it might be above budget. A couple of years ago I was fairly impressed with the panasonic lumix line at around 200. I'd look into some recent reviews in that area. Or, a decent phone camera....

The samsung sl600 I have takes pretty detailed up close shots, very detailed and nice photos all around. Got it for $120 a few years ago, can imagine the price has gone down since. Once you get a hang of all the settings and whatnot its a great camera. Having a mini tripod also helps keep the image still. Helps for product photos when you're selling stuff online.

Most poor pictures are due to bad lighting. The expensive cameras can compensate for this but if you have the proper lighting even a cheap camera can take nice pictures. Up to a point...

My Photon 4g and epic 4g phones actually take better pictures than my cannon camera. However the camera is a couple of years old.

Interesting factoid... Need a telephoto lens but you only have your cheap point and click? Hold your camera up to the eye piece of a pair of binoculars. It works surprisingly well if you can hold them steady. I have taken some amazing shots with this method...

I've been meaning to try a little experiment for a while now. Here are the results:
