I'm very new here, so I just want to say, if you're actually serious about being able to use those batteries, THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I've had an old laptop sitting in storage for about 2 years. Took me 4 minutes with a putty knife to crack it open, and here's what I found.

OK, since apparently my phone is an idiot and won't let me insert a picture, I found 6 18650 batteries. The model on them is CGR18650CE. From some research done just in the last 5 minutes, they appear to be high drain.

The big question: can I actually use these in my Vamo V5?

Also, if I can use them safely, any advice on how to get the super tiny metal pieces left over from peeling the contacts off?

PLEASE DON'T DO THIS....

How has no one caught this yet?
There is a reason we are not all doing this.... Use proper batteries in your mechs as well as your regulated devices. This is just wrong.

laptop batteries ARE NOT designed for this use.

Don't be an idiot.

I just got them. Haven't put to use yet. I may actually sand it and polish it to get it all completely clear. The foggy kind of throws the look off.

just my opinion but try first to make the outer shell clear and leave the chimney frosted that could give a great effect

Actually laptop batteries are usually the pick of the pack. They are going to be genuine and are going to be top quality. Often the batteries we buy are "factory seconds", they didn't test as well as they should from the factory (this is talking companies like ****fire, fakes, and the like. AW and genuine OEM batteries are good). What you should be more worried about is the state of them. They are used batteries, which is a gamble. How old are they? How sure are you that they haven't been overcharged or discharged? Do you have a way of fully testing them?

go to any flashlight forum and search "laptop pull". You'll get the idea

edit: sitting in storage for two years? I'd pass on this batch. They likely have been undercharged for a long time

while you do have a point, this is not CPF.

not all packs are created equal,
2300mAh 18650... i highly doubt its high drain...
And not all ECF users are competent enough to disassemble a battery pack.
And of all places the Newbie forum is not the place for this kind of information.
Just the other day, a user wanted to take off the shrink wrap on a battery, just because it looked cooler on his DIY mod... see my concern.

i know a good bit of battery info, and do have machines to test batteries, but even I wouldn't take the risk on a used laptop pack.
I've owned 10 AW's in the 3 years that i've been vaping... They have paid for themselves. no need to pinch pennies in that department.

I'me just advocating safety here, Vapers shouldn't be missing teeth, due to an oversight.
