Somewhere in PA on my Ultra Limited
The D16 has a 3.4mm wick hole and I used ~60mm of #500 mesh rolled on a 15ga blunt tip needle (I always role wick hole wide with a center channel). The coil is Kanthal 0.6mm x 0.1mm ribbon (about the same resistance as 28awg round wire).

For making the wick:
  1. Quick Jack frost (lightly torch both side to stiffen the mesh and mildly oxidize)
  2. Crease outside edge (fold over the edge that will be on the outside ~1mm)
  3. Roll on needle tip until slides into wick hole easily but enough friction that it stays in place (I torched the plastic end off a luer lok 15ga blunt tipped needle and use as a rolling tool)
  4. Trim ends of wick (~1mm off bottom of tank - ~0.5mm shorter than center post - re-round ends on needle tip)
  5. Insert wick and connect +/- tails with flat wire - I use a jewelers screw driver to flatten the ends and then secure with posts (enough tension in the coil wire to make contact but make sure tension does not tighten up and choke wick)
  6. Pulse through remaining oxidation under wick (I use a 100% mech mod and pulse the power till the hot spots even out - tons of YouTube vids on this method)

Fill, vape and enjoy

I'm a visual person and some of these things are absolutely gorgeous.

No kidding! I'm enjoying browsing the various looks and getting ideas of some mods I'd like to have. I don't want to wind up spending as much on mods as I used to on tobacco, though! Some of these are such works of art, I have to ask: are there folks out there making custom one-of-a-kind VPs, or are all these mods?

Mods to me are the one of a kind or a few of a kind. Once someone starts selling them they are a product and not a mod. Some of these are indeed custom and some of them are limited runs. Some of them are commercially produced and have replenishing stock.
