Would anyone have a DIY Pineapple Upside Down Cake recipe? I have looked high and low for one to no avail. My wife suddenly has an urge for this recipe and all I can find are pre-made ones. I'd really like to make my own if possible. (Wonder if she is pregnant? Last child she drank straight Wishbone Italian salad dressing from the bottle, so this is definitely a change for the better if so.. lol) Maybe it's too complex for the average DIY'er ? IDK, but I'm sure willing to give it a go if I can come up with a recipe.
Any recipies, thoughts, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated -- Thanks very much..... horton

The flavors that come to mind for me are of course pineapple, maybe some vanilla, waffle, and a small touch of lemon, and maybe a little sweetener (maybe marshmallow, or even the bavarian cream).

Not sure...have not tried that combo....just basing my guess off sheer mouth watering taste of that delic pineapple upside down cake.....YUMM

What you could try...and I have seen it suggested several times for different recipes....look at the ingredients in making a REAL pineapple upside down cake and that should give a bit of a good starting point.

I forgot about pound cake....I was trying to think of the kinda plain cakey flavors and all that I could get was waffle.....and it was not movin out of the way for me to find the others...lol

Your mix would probably work Rebel, but I think It may still need a tiny touch of tartness there....unless there is a pineapple flavoring that already has that....what I have used has not really had that tartness....

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions..... I think looking at what is in the recipe makes great sense, Keelalagirl55. Also.... being new to DIY.... I don't remember seeing a Pound Cake flavoring..... What site have you seen one on, RebelAir? I may have just blown by it not thinking I might have use for it... My gosh, with all the flavorings out there, you would need a huge storage area just to keep them in. But, I'm having a blast doing DIY and wish I had started sooner. So many ideas to try, so little time.....lol And I don't think I'm preggers either..... this could be for anyone.....lol.
Please keep the ideas coming. Not being a fan of Pineapple Upside Down Cake, it's hard for me to think of all the nuances of it. I have several different types of Pineapple flavoring to try, some Lemon, a few different Caramels, thought maybe some Brown Sugar might be apropos, and from what little I know of this cake something that would be both tart and sweet at the same time..... that make any sense? Would a touch of Cinnamon make sense?
I'm still trying to figure out how to jam those pineapple slices into my carto while holding it upside down at the same time..... that will be a real trick....lol.
Seriously though, I thank everyone who is trying to help me. I think I may have picked a rather complex recipe early in my DIY career, but what the heck, may as well jump in with both feet. I'll definitely work in very small batches until I can get it "tuned in". Thanks again for your help..... horton

Go Phantom Go! Can't wait to see what the perfected product would be....

I saw the yellow cake batter last night.....I can't seem to find the poundcake anymore....and I cannot remember who had it to begin with.......wondering what a drop or 2 of Brandy would do??? I know my grandmother used to use it or maybe it was a flavored rum when she made her pineapple upside down cake......???

Wow, thanks for all the ideas. Think I started a monster!!! lol This seems to be a really difficult flavor to nail down. I had to laugh at the comments about not having the flavors in the DIY cabinets because I've been ordering different flavors from several vendors like a madman. Anything that seems to be remotely close to the finished product I'm getting. If they don't work out, I'll probably have one of the best stocked flavor cabinets in vaping history!!
I'll give the one Candy listed a try, but will have to "cheat" on a few of the flavors listed.... don't have the exact same brands, but similar flavors. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I'm also very glad that I just ordered a bunch of 5 and 10 ml plastic bottles. I have a funny feeling that I'm going to have quite a few "test flavors" that don't make the cut, and I'll have to try and doctor them up so I don't waste the flavors. I'm not using any nic sol'n yet, just my diluents in 3ml batches, until I find one that tastes right. Figured it would help keep the cost down.
I'm afraid to figure out how much I've spent on different flavors over the last couple of weeks, but I know I've gone over my monthly budget. But, this is all in the name of science, right?? --- at least that's what I keep telling my wife. Heck, she's the one who got me going on this in the first place....lol.
Thanks again for all the input. When I get one down that I think is good, I'll definitely post it. horton

Thank you. I'll be looking forward to it. We'll let you spend all of your money perfecting if for us, LOL. I've never tried Bananas Foster. I use banana flaving and add just a couple of drops of Cool Mint to it, which doesn't add mint flavoring, just add's a cool sparkle to it.

Janet....I do the same thing.... let's see, I need Pound Cake, but oh my, some of those other flavors look interesting too.... before I know it I have 15 items in my cart.....lol. But we are having fun, right? And, Dawn is so pleasant to deal with.... plus, there is that little extra treat when you order from her. She is a wonderful vendor.

Seabrook.... funny you mentioned Bananas Foster... that is another one I want to try..... but think I better get this Pineapple "thing" done first. Gosh, I may need some different flavors for the Bananas Foster... there goes next month's budget....lol.
Bananas Foster is one of my fav. desserts. Will have to start a new thread for that recipe, although for some reason, I'd swear I have seen a recipe for it before.... now it's going to bug me until I figure out if it's just my senile mind playing tricks on me or if I really did see it.....lol

Still waiting on my order from Capella....need some of those items before I can proceed.
