INTRODUCTION

Hello everybody, this is Pizza Dave with a review of the Zeus Dual coil rta by Geekvape. This device was a contest win from a forum presented by 3fvape and upon receipt they asked if I could toss a review up for it as well. So here I am, covering an item I never would have bought because I felt like it was just like a Themis which I reviewed in the past. I was wrong, and this is quite a bit different. The Zeus Dual coil rta is a follow up to their widely popular Zeus single coil rta that was released last fall. Let’s dive in, see if it beats out its sister company Digiflavor’s Themis.

BUILD DECK AND WICKING

The build deck of the Zeus Dual features a post-less build deck that at first glance looks very similar to the Themis. Both have screws that put pressure on the “flat” side of a wider build, which helps during the building process. A noticeable difference in the two is the wicking slots. The Zeus has wide open sides, which require the builder to fan out the cotton and tuck it against the deck. I found that juicing it up first helped to keep it in place during re-assembly. The Themis has two smaller wicking ports which can easily be overstuffed with cotton, and require little cotton to work right. The Zeus is MUCH more forgiving to wick, and I found that it only took one try and it was perfect. The Themis takes some trial and error, or the result is dry hit city.

HOW IT VAPES

I have heard a lot of good thing about the Zeus, but I went into this assuming it was going to be the exact same as the Themis. Granted, I reviewed the Themis very positively and have had a great experience with it, but…. The Zeus beats it out when it comes to flavor. The air flow on the Zeus is a little bit more open than the Themis and it is a little lower, so I am going to assume it just has less distance to travel to get down to the coils, but that is pure speculation. I ran these two with the same build, and same liquid, and the Zeus beat it out on flavor, smoothness of the draw, and vapor production. I cannot do a comparison to the single coil as I couldn’t stand it. I owned a Zeus single, and I didn’t like the deck, didn’t like the wicking of it, and I sent it off to a better home after it collected dust for a couple of months.

CONCLUSION

Geekvape made a real winner with the Zeus dual coil rta. The flavor is great, it is easy to build on, and it is easy to wick. The only cons that I have are subjective styling cons. The first one is the drip tip. Aftermarket 810 tips will sit up on a “pedestal” at the top of the tank where the factory proprietary tip sits down flusher and goes around that pedestal. The only other con is the styling. The original Zeus had a little more flair to it, and this one is just blah to me. The middle chimney area is bland, and the Zeus logo always ended up on the side I didn’t want it on. Other than those two subjective cons I can’t really find many faults in it.

When compared to the Themis, it beats it out right, and I love my Themis. The way it disassembles is better, the wicking is more forgiving, and the flavor is superior as well. Overall, this is a tough dual coil rta to beat, and it is well worth the low prices ($25-35) that it is selling for online.

REVIEW CRITERIA: I use each item for about two weeks to ensure I have collected enough data to adequately write a review. I use the same e liquid in tanks or rdas throughout all my reviews to ensure that I am comparing apples to apples between all modern equipment. I do not post reviews until I feel confident that I have used it enough to give an educated review. The reason I started doing reviews was due to poor purchasing decisions in my vaping infancy about two years ago. Back then, I purchased several different pieces of hardware without really enjoying it and I hope my reviews can guide people into spending their hard-earned money more wisely than I did! ****Keep in mind that some items I receive may be pre-release and not in retail packaging. Quality may be less than the finished product and what is in the package may differ from the retail package as well.
