I know they have mall kiosks, but anyone know of a store that carries different brands where I can try them and compare side by side? Internet shopping for electronic cigarettes leaves something to be desired. San Francisco would be great, but I'm not afraid of a drive.

Don't I wish that was a reality! sorry, but something like that just doesn't exist.
A word of advise for you, though...once you've been through some of the information on the forum, your head's going to be spinning with TMI. There's terminology and a whole other dialog at times.... so .... with regards to a first
vaping device - just pick one. Any one. Grab what's available, interesting to you, and in the low end of your price range. Get some
juice to try out, and get the stuff in your hands.
Once you have equipment handy, and once you start putting the words on the forum together with what's in your hands... a lot of this stuff is just going to "click."
You're going to have a learning curve. Everyone does. That's what this forum is best at - guiding our noobs to the "promised land" and watching them, in turn, guide others.
You're probably going to change equipment - almost everyone does that, too. But your beginning gear will always serve as a back up.
Just remember, you can't get used to the water if you're standing on the shore. Jump in!
